Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman James Loney won't face any criminal charges resulting from a Nov. 14 traffic accident in which he was briefly detained on suspicion of DUI, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's office confirmed on Wednesday.

The decision not to charge Loney, the spokesman said, was the result of all of Loney's toxicology tests coming back negative.

Loney was driving a 2009 Maserati on the Westbound 101 Freeway when he collided with multiple cars. He told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Dec. 9 that he remembered hitting only the first car, then hitting his head on something, after which "everything became very fuzzy."

Loney said in that interview he didn't remember being administered a breathalyzer test by police at the scene, during which he reportedly bit off the mouthpiece and spat the rest of the tube at the officer. He was transported to the hospital in handcuffs, but Loney said he believed that was only to restrain him because of his erratic behavior.

Loney also said that by the time he woke up at the hospital, feeling completely normal, there no longer were any police around and he was free to go.

"Once I woke up, they just released me," Loney said in that Dec. 9 interview. "There was no questioning other than the hospital staff making sure I was OK. I had somebody pick me up, and I went home. I was OK once I woke up. I was like, 'Whoa, that was a weird experience.' I talked to them like the person I am, my usual personality, and they were like, 'He's fine, he can go home.'

"I just want to make it clear that I would never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I was just in an accident."

Missing time...? Isn't that some kind of UFO experience?
I think he should have gone with that - said he was driving down the 101 and saw strange lights in the sky and then woke up a few days later out near Bakersfield. And he's been having these strange dreams of little gray guys with bug eyes doing stuff to his body...

Gulity is the new innocent. If it's me or you though, we are already getting ramrodded by 6 gang bangers.
This is the kind of justice that I want...one thing you can say for California; it's not what you know--it's...uh...
    California.
I'm glad though...I don't think James would 'handle the handle' too well of "felon" or whatever additional charges they would drum up if it were one of us.
We need da bro' for da half season raking...not to mention the better than Votto glove, too.
