DOUBLE UGH ! The cavalry looking pretty ragged these days...guess it's not quite time to blow "Charge: " on the bugle yet.
Pretty shitty Fourth across the organization yesterday as the Dodgers lost ugly and the four farm teams followed suit. There were some bad pitching performances including Chris Campos in AA, who had put together a nice little run of starts but gave up 10 earned yesterday, and Landon Knack who surrendered 5. The only really impressive box score to report is Outman's as he was a triple short of the cycle. I still think they should be shopping him this month. But the main reason I'm making this post is to report a promotion at the SS position. Noah Miller was a #36 overall pick by the Twins in the 2021 draft. I've mentioned him before. Dodgers acquired him in the Margot trade last year. He's 22 and known as a great glove, light bat shortstop. He's actually held his own at the plate in AA Tulsa this year, hitting .291, but with only one HR has little power. Anyhow, he played SS for OKC yesterday (1 hit in 4 ABs) and Freeland slid over to 3B. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Muncy injury or is unrelated. The only other aspect to keep an eye on is that for at least yesterday this sent 3B Kody Hoese to the bench. I've followed Hoese since the Dodgers selected him in the first round of the 2019 draft (one pick before they got Michael Busch), and unfortunately he's never impressed. He had been on a small hot-for-him streak the past couple of weeks, getting his stats up to an almost respectable level (.769 OPS), but this may just be a case of him at age 27 nearing the end of his baseball career, with the 23 year old Freeland taking over duties at the hot corner. We shall see.
Ugly happens. Just ask my parents. Seriously... the disparity in yesterday's score could be just an off-day, bad luck, or the vengeance of Ares. Who knows? We slice & dice this team up like Gordon Ramsey with an onion. And like that English fop, we often overreact, few more than I do. The Asstros have been just as hot as LA of late so give the devil his due. LA can't blame this all on beating trash cans or using TV feeds. Fact is... LA's offense suffers from irregular mood swings. Yesterday was a prime example ... I saw that & I only watched two innings. Dem Bums have the Brewers & Gnatties to face before the ASB. We outta be more concerned with potential WC opponents in October than MAYBE facing Houston later that month. ... Now if only Houston's plane can crash heading home ...
While the Dodgers lost again, yesterday was a much better day in the minors, with all four teams winning. A Quintero - double, 3 walks, 3 runs, 3 RBIs High-A George - 2 hits, 2 runs, 35th SB Hope - grand slam Sirota - hit, walk, SB, run De Paula - dnp Eriq Swan - 2023 4th round pick and Dodgers #15 prospect. Pitched 5 innings, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 8 K's AA Copen - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, 3 K's Nevin - promoted from A, probably to fill Miller's vacancy AAA Outman - 2 for 4, 4 RBIs (now leads PCL) Freeland - played 3B, 2 for 4, 1 RBI Miller - double Hoese - played 2B, 3 walks, 3 runs
Bobby Miller stunk again today. I'll spare you the details. Such a shame how much he's fallen in two years. From so much promise to nothing. No value. None to the big league team. None in trade value.
Dodgers prospect tabbed by Baseball America as ‘next star outfielder’ debuts in MLB’s Top 100 Dodgers outfield prospect Eduardo Quintero cracks MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospects list after monster start to 2025 season. After a recent update to the list, the Los Angeles Dodgers now have five prospects ranked in MLB Pipeline's Top 100. 19-year-old outfielder Eduardo Quintero is the latest to crack the list. He is the No. 5 prospect in the Dodgers organization and recently entered as the No. 100 prospect in all of baseball. On Tuesday, MLB's midseason update had even better news; Quintero had already leapt to No. 90. Quintero was also recently touted as MLB's "next star outfielder" by Baseball America. Dodgers' Eduardo Quintero enters Top 100 Prospects Quintero is having himself an outstanding season in A-ball with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. He has gone from a teenage lottery ticket to one of the most promising young prospects in baseball. Through his 65 games this season, Quintero is batting .319 with an on-base percentage of .430 and a .990 OPS. He has 33 extra-base hits including 13 home runs and 33 stolen bases. He is showcasing every tool imaginable on a nightly basis and he's still only 19 years old. "Quintero is a polished hitter who rarely chases pitches out of the zone and makes consistent contact to all fields," reads his prospect profile from MLB.com. "His quick right-handed swing produces high exit velocities for a teenager that could portend 20-homer power, though he'll need to learn to drive balls in the air to his pull side to get there. " It's safe to say that Quintero has started to learn how to tap into his power. He is on pace for over 20 home runs and over 50 stolen bases as a 19-year-old. While he has already cracked the Top 100 list, which is significant, Quintero should be a prospect that continues to fly up the rankings when the end-of-season update is revealed, based on how his rise has already been reflected in the latest edition. The Dodgers already have outfielder Andy Pages (24) playing like an All-Star at the big league level. Then there's No. 1 prospect Josue De Paula and No. 2 prospect Zyhir Hope, both 20-year-old outfielders ranked in the Top 100 already. Mike Sirota and Kendall George are also promising young outfielders that are still a few years away from being big league ready, The next wave of star Dodgers outfielders is coming and Eduardo Quintero might be the most well-rounded of them all when it's all said and done. Yeah, you could be right. But using the established LA formula/ timetable with rookies, by the time he gets here, Mookie will be a bald older guy...oh...wait...uh...an announcer, maybe ?
You've got to figure the absolute soonest any of these five OF prospects will be ready is 2027, and I assume (and trust) Conforto is one and done, so it will be interesting to see what happens next season.
would be so simple… dh - shohei 1b - freddie 2b - edman ss - kim 3b - max (freeland) c - will lf - teoscar cf - pages rf - mookie if not for…
Yeah. Pretty sure. Wow...looking at this year's tail off divded by eight more years will be a hard eight to make. Craps. Even Freddie's contract considering the distance between his bat and the ball on his ever growing, alarming K rate now looks a bit worrisome too...age sucks. I'm a fucking expert on this, believe me. Even some others- one specifically more than any other- looks a little jaundiced. We always goof on other teams with their silly overblown contracts they have given out ( just in case you missed it, Bobby Bonilla* just got his last check from the Mets! ), could it be maybe we weren't as brilliant as originally cracked up to be ? Nah... *Bobby Bonilla : early theropod from the mid-Cretaceous period. Extinct for millions of years.
Meaning his latest check, right? They've got ten more years of those payments. Such a crazy story, especially because at the time the Mets ownership invested with Madoff and expected to profit off Bonilla's deferral.
