If Kiké can cover SS once-a-week, then I can see us going very thin at SS. Seager should have it covered 140+ games, and there's enough flexibility to cover SS in a short-term emergency with Forsythe. There's really no reason for Kiké to focus on any other IF spot unless there's an injury, so that's something to watch in ST.

    Thats good analyses.
But we could clear some room with a trade.
Trayce, Toles, SVS, Kike, Verdugo, Kyle Farmer, Brock Stewart and A-Gon to the Brewers.
    For
    Villar, Braun, Carlos Torres

    Vs Righty
    3B: Villar
    SS: Seager
    LF: Braun
    1B: Turner
    RF: Puig
    2B: Forsythe
    CF: Joc
    C: Grandal/Barnes

    Vs Lefty
    2B: Forsythe
    3B: Villar
    LF: Braun
    RF: Puig
    SS: Seager
    CF: Gutierrez
    1B: Darin Ruff
    C: Grandal/Barnes

Bench is: Ethier, Gutierrez, Ruf, Utley, Barnes
Ethier is the premiere pinch hitter, and plays the field when either Puig or Braun get a rest vs righties.
Utley pinch hits and only plays vs righties to spell Forsythe and the two corner IF.
Gutierrez is there as the OF platoon partner for Joc and pinch hitting vs lefty relievers.
Darin Ruff offers the same role as Gutierrez but mostly at 1B and a little in LF.
Barnes is the backup to Grandal and can do a little in an emergency basis in the IF, (but with villar he wont be needed).

Villar can cover SS whenever Seager needs a break. And when that happens Turner moves back to 3B (to keep Turners defense from slipping) and Utley takes 1B.

And Carlos Torres gives us another quality bullpen arm.

I smell trade but not that type of blockbuster trade. They took the time to sign:

    Utley
    Turner
    Hill
    Jansen

I don't see them trading Gonzalez.

Especially when they didn't bite for Dozier.

It's going to be interesting too see what happens.

Yeah this depth is crazy.......im not complaining, but team seemed log jammed everywhere.

This is what I see as our opening day roster:

    OF - Pederson/Puig/Ethier
    OF Bench - Toles/Gutierrez
    INF - Turner/Seager/Forsythe/Gonzo
INF Bench - Kiki/Utley/Barnes (back up catcher)
    C - Grandall

    Bullie - Jansen/Dayton/Baez/Avilan/Romo/Fields/Nuno
SP - Kershaw/Hill/Maeda/Wood/Urias (I know, extended ST, but will be here by the end of April)

    That leaves SVS/Trayce/Segedin/Taylor/Kaz/McCarthy/Stewart/Stripling/Ravin/Rhame/Ruff/Hatcher/Liberatore/Ryu

So Segedin/Stewart/Striping/Ravin/Rhame I think can go down to AAA, Trayce/Ryu/Taylor can hit the DL, but where do you put Kaz/McCarthy/Ruff/Hatcher/Liberatore??

A trade has to materialize before the end of ST..........

Nuno has an option, so if they were to carry 3 lefties, I have to think it would be Liberatore. However, they could just as easily go with 5 righties by adding Ravin. Depth is a wonderful thing.

I hear the Brewers could use McCarthy, Stewart and Strippling.

This is going to be a very interesting ST for sure. It illustrates why it's extremely unlikely Urias makes the Opening Day roster. And one of Kaz/McCarthy has to be traded, cut, or wind up on the DL by Opening Day.

Also, we still have options on a number of the guys you listed on the 25-man roster - I think that list includes Puig, Maeda, and Wood.
