However, with the sloppy, incorrect grammar used LIKE (there you go!) everywhere, that doesn't seem to be so uber terrible, YA KNOW ? (I could've said don't seem so terrible....but one wouldn't say "that DO NOT seem so terrible", right? A mistake made all the time....watch for it.)
Anyway, not being in the world of business, I surely wouldn't know the evidently seriously negative impression it leaves. YA KNOW?

The grammar nowadays is terrible and getting much worse. Add to that the shorthand text language used and it is just getting worse.

I encourage almost everyone in or about to go to college to seriously consider having English be their major. English, in my opinion, is probably the best major out there now, unless you are planning to work with a major that is technically needed (i.e. engineering, etc.). The rest of the majors are pretty useless in the business world and, anyways, college now is a TOTAL business.

I know that I'm one of the old fogey's so if "I" said this then it might have some relevance... but you're just a tyke barely out of school yourself aren't you?

I continue to chuckle at your advice that everyone have English be their major. What a load of well spoken idiots we'd then pass degrees to. Of course, as an engineer, I see a paucity of value in ANY liberal arts degrees. If it isn't science based then you likely do not need a college education at all. OTOH high schools teach so little
English that a high school education is almost an indictment these days. I am routinely reminded how much I hated English in classes decades ago until reading poorly compiled or written thoughts from others.

And then, not to allow another grammar Nazi any slack, please note that one would speak your thoughts more coherently by writing "I encourage those entering college to consider English as their major". As one prone to logorrhea I applaud concise brevity particularly when speaking in error as it permits the listener to assume you misspoke rather than using your words to confirm your ignorance.

As the old salt teaches "Tis better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt"

A word to the wise, Cappy...I majored in English. Not with a specific goal in mind for a specific job field, but to be well rounded in general, with a strong base to build on. My brother has a degree in engineering...but has never driven as train.

I ask him frequently "How do you tell a cowboy from an engineer?" You know the answer?

 

I use contractions because I am lazy but I would not use them in a minimum word essay.
