Knew Ryu wasn't a sure thing. Now what do the nerds do?

Nothing...the depth will suffice. Or if not, then sign another injury prone guy. Simple.

    doubt they'll do anything
    at least not now
will be interesting to see what they do [if anything] come the deadline, especially if we're flailing behind the giants and/or others
i know every team faces injury challenges
but it sure seems like we've gotten fucked more than anyone the past few years

I don't think it's too early for the nerds to act, or at least make plans to act. Ryu is not coming back this year in any capacity. I wouldn't place my bets on McCarthy at this point. Kazmir is a shaky #2, and I think Kershaw and Maeda are, for now, the only two consistent SPs. Our BP is still a mess. And Joc doesn't have a clue.

The signs are very clear right now. I know we've had these arguments last year even with Grienke pitching the way he was, but now we are on year 2 of the experiment, and it's pretty worrisome.

I don't care if we win tomorrow's game and take 2 out of 3 from the Giants. You just can't ignore the signs.....things we've seen for the past several years at least.

Ryu setback is bad but really not feeling like this forebodes gloom and doom. We have been down this road before and have survived and we do indeed have the depth of specs that we could trade down the road. The Marlins have already shown signs of their demise having lost 2 in a row to the previously winless Braves and stand at 3 - 6.

The correlation between our spotty pitching staff and the Braves/Marlins is what then? They are ready to deal away pitchers hecause of a slow start?
Or something that went over my head?

This statement has no basis in fact.

He has a groin injury, I can't recall the last time I saw a groin injury being season ending.

Surviving the injury bug is all I meant NEVER predicted the same disappointing ending. You predicted this by your response.

It's long been rumored that Mr. Fernandez if disappointed with his current team will demand a trade and I think we are well positioned to trade for him. The slow start you mention just was exacerbated by getting swept by the previously winless, rebuilding Braves plus that division is a monster.

It is if it takes an already delayed pitching program another month to just get back to step 1 of the pitching program. He was already 20 days plus behind the other pitchers, and a groin pull is not exactly something you rehab unless you think jerking off is exercise.

He's gotta wait till that heals.....who knows how long....then get back to step one. Then even if he completes that by the second half, again, in what capacity will we have witn him.....delayed rehab, groin pull, and torn labrum surgery.

No one wants him back more than me the way he was.....but facts just point to otherwise right now.

Puig and Uribe were reportedly his best friends on the team. Uribe is no longer on the roster, so............

Wtf do I know, but maybe from using his lower body more as a subconcious way to take the burden off the shoulder?

This is what I do know, it's going to take more than the groin injury to keep him out for the season as Gebbeth suggest.
