I actually get his logic, but talk is cheap.
Like Animal Mother said in Full Metal Jacket, " you can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk "?
    Raking what?
Leaves in the backyard this autumn ?

hadn’t looked at it this way
actually makes a lot of sense

I don’t think Shohei Ohanti to the Dodgers is a sure thing anymore. They’re not going to pay $400 million for a DH. They’re just not. If he can’t pitch then it’s just not the same. Some propaganda out there claiming the injury improves the Dodgers chances.

I don't think team chemistry is everything, but it's certainly part of it. And I just don't see that in any of Machado's teams. There had to be some miffed Dodger teammates in 2018 that didn't like him not running out his ground balls, kicking the first baseman's foot, and overall lackluster showing as the season wound down (culminating in his .390 OPS over 22 WS ABs). For as good as his bat usually is, his attitude has always been a negative, and his mouth makes claims that he simply can't back up. I'd be surprised if his team every wins a championship.

not about race or background its about character and always will be
dude's a front runner and i fully expect him to demand a trade soon
has no idea what to do w adversity and expects his talent to just get him to the glory
not saying he doesn't work but that's not enough to be the best

broke the record with more than a month left in the season
truly impressive and yet not at all surprising
    • In the fifth inning yesterday, Freddie Freeman broke the Dodgers’ record for most doubles in a single season in team history when he drove a ball off of the Green Monster. His 50th double of the season and second of the game passed Shawn Green who hit 49 doubles in the 2003 season.

That's some good math and I'm in agreement with his conclusion. If any team commits half a billion dollars to Ohtani, they will have hamstrung themselves for the foreseeable future.

I don't want the Dodgers to be the high bidders. I'm hoping their offer is enough so to not insult him, and at that point he can decide if he wants top dollar or to be in the running for championships for many years.

I'm thinking at this point they should just set up a Tommy John surgery center in Dodger Stadium.

The fact that I felt a huge sigh of relief when I read this just solidifies that I am not a good person.

i guess i did too but that's because you just knew if he hung in there he'd get the ball as a fourth starter in the playoffs
can't have that and now we don't need to worry about it
hope he comes back strong but between him and May they sure aren't the most reliable guys are they?

Yes, the staff in the post, except for a couple of guys like Julio and CK, is kinda murky. I figure Bobby with tnat unbelievable breaking ball. I think Stone and Yarbrough play a big part, since CK and Julio are not optimum on short rest, if that's the way it works out..
Should Ferris reappear, I don't see enough time to get him built up. But for an inning ? Maybe.

pretty sure Lynn is your third starter and Miller/Yarbrough/Pepiot at this point make up any 4th game
if people stay healthy and Papi's Julio can go more than 4

from one class act to another

    Dodger Insider@DodgerInsider
From Shawn Green on Freddie Freeman breaking his LA Dodgers single-season doubles record (Green’s father Ira was Freeman’s youth hitting coach): “Big congrats to Freddie! My dad and I are both happy to hand this record off to a great guy who we’ve known since I set it.”

BREAKING: The Los Angeles Angels have placed starter Lucas Giolito, relievers Matt Moore and Reynaldo López, and outfielders Hunter Renfroe and Randal Grichuk on waivers, sources tell ESPN. Huge potential playoff implications: All can be claimed by teams for free on Thursday.

For the Angels, this will be a pure salary dump. Because there are no longer any August trades, all they will get from the transactions is salary relief. Teams that claim the players will need only pay their salaries for the rest of the season.

Who gets the players will be determined by reverse order of record. The team with the worst record that puts in a claim on a player will receive him. And there are going to be plenty of claims put in from playoff-caliber teams that need a starter, bullpen help and bats.

They can still be postseason eligible when claimed. A lot of teams could use these players. The Angels, meanwhile, have long been out of contention and might be able to get back under the luxury-tax threshold by shedding these contracts for a month.
