^Not so fast, Guerrero has to go to winter ball and show us what he's got. I'm not so sure we don't keep Mark and me personally I would for one more year.
and the Angels may have thought they could keep Greinke because the Dodgers weren't in on Greinke trade talks during the season. Dodgers hadn't identified Greinke at that point. they were all about Cole Hamels. last i saw, Pederson was a Top 30-35 prospect and Lee is Top 100. if you're an opposing team you're gonna give up more than that knowing full well that the Dodgers have identified Price as their next big contract signing and Price would be heading there? doesn't make sense to me. and it definitely wouldn't make sense for Tampa to give up Price now if they figured they'd have the leverage to just flip him for something worthwhile a year and a half later. he's their best pitcher. imo, it's not a coincidence that we heard " Pederson/Seager/Urias/Lee " from one source and " Pederson/Lee/Fedex " from another source. they're likely leaks of the stances of the two teams. now, i wanna hear some other rumors of another team getting in the mix. so far i've heard Dodgers and Rangers and that's it. and Profar for a Price rental is certainly not happening
Guerrero could head to the minors if he is not ready to contribute right away. I would like to see MEllis come back for one more year just in case Guerrero falters and/or he can be used as a defensive sub.
A little update: 1:15pm: Guerrero will indeed be a free agent following the conclusion of his contract and won't be eligible for arbitration, according to Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times. Hernandez adds that the contract contains a clause that prevents the Dodgers from sending Guerrero to the minor leagues without his consent after the first year of the contract (Twitter links). The key phrase is "after the 1st year", so that leaves open the possible return of Mark which I would applaud.
Also sounds like Mattingly may not be back if he doesn't get a multi year deal. There are a few good options out there so he may want to take advantage now instead of a year from now when the pickens may be slim.
A coupe familiar names and of course the main name Tanaka, the more I read the more I likes! http://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2013/10/21/baseball/eagles-reach-first-japan-series/#.UmWChPmkofR
to me...it looks like the Dodgers want Mattingly to leave for a better deal and have them not have to let him go or fire him. a PR move, but a spot where they know they can find someone else anyway. i know Leyland and Dusty are old, but this team may need an older/experienced leader that guys can look at as grandfatherly types. Leyland is a hell of a clubhouse manager.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/te...ter-than-texas-rangers-pitcher-yu-darvish.ece Doesn't say who the scout is, though.
If he's comparing him to Kuroda, then he's not better than Darvish lol. That said, I'd love another Kuroda type pitcher. Would be awesome for the staff.
I think he compared him to Kuroda because he doesn't walk a lot of batters? Darvish can get wild at times.
Yeah I got that, it's just Darvish is better regardless is what I'm saying. Being better than Darvish at throwing strikes doesn't mean he's better all together. Misleading title
better as far as pitching...not as far as pure stuff. that's why he compared Tanaka to Kuroda. because Kuroda's a pitcher - meaning he throws strikes and Darvish is a more of a pure stuff guy. as far as stuff goes...it's no shameful thing to have less pure stuff than Darvish. he may have the best pure stuff in MLB ( along with maybe Fernandez in Miami). so i'd be good with Tanaka regardless of his standing against Darvish
