But he was right about some of the entitled younger players on those teams.

Right. And Claire also said it was the richest contract ever offered at that time.

That they were both dickheads might have had something to do with it, too.

With the exception of Kershaw and maybe Ronald Bellisario, he’s the best player I’ve ever seen in Blue.

If you read my GF analogy it is clear who the asshole in the relationship was. The Dodgers and not Piazza.
Piazza was that first love that we lost.
For 'reasons' too many are still bitter towards him years later.
That is why all negative talk about him by many of our fans.
Diablo and others understood my analogy at face value but IMO yall still missing the bigger point.
That your hate for Piazza should have been let go a long time ago.
The point of the analogy is that the Dodgers fucked up and when Piazza ended up going into the HOF a Met it was truly what the Dodgers organization deserved.
It was a beancounter Fox mistake.
Like the same mistake many here would want todays beancounters to make with their talk about Kershaw being traded since he cant come up in the clutch and that he will cost too much to resign, etc...
Then in the future when he goes into the HOF under another banner they will be mad at Kershaw.
Like the guy who mistreats his GF and then she ends up with another dude and they talk shit about her and call her a bitch and a slut when in reality the slut bitch was the guy who mistreated her in the first place.

When you find a pearl of great value you go and sell everything you have to go get that pearl.
Or like finding a great treasure in a field. You go and sell everything you own and you buy that field.
You don't try to be a tricky dick about it. You don't try to nickel and dime the situation.

Hey Russia how much you want for that piece of barren ice called Alyaksa?
Alyaksa is rich in furs so we demand 12 Million American Rubles said the Russians as they twirled their mustaches.
    We said SOLD!
Because we knew there was gold under that snow.
They only saw what was on the surface.

There was nobody like Mike Piazza because of his position.
He was also far better as a catcher than he ever got credit for.
Folks did not know about analytics much back then but he graded very nicely.
And obviously made up for his issues offensively like no other catcher ever.

Before he ever became an LAD, Kent going at Bonds in the SFag dugout immediately elevated him to high muckety-muck status... in my mind anyway.
Then when he asked fat POS Fielder if he wanted a piece of him after the corpulent cunt attempted spiking him at 2b, (another scumbag, imo, along with Bonds), was another admirable trait of Kent's, too. Just me...
And calling out the deadbeat, lazy attitude of some young douchebags was alright by me, because he wanted to win, plain and simple...
And so did the fans..!it was getting long in the tooth since even the last WS appearance, much less a championship, even back then when it happened.
So long ago, and still not something real yet.
    Incomprehensible.

You brought up Kent and hate. You want to take about Kent, go ahead but nobody is arguing against you.
We were talking about Mike Piazza though.
And you are absolutely wrong about your memories of my 'hate' for Piazza.
Favorite Dodger of all time for me. It was right when I was a teenager in the best years of my fandom.
Why I use the term first love in the girlfriend analogy.
For many fans my age he was our first favorite player.

Kent was great and I always said we should have had him for those two years he spent in Houston as well. Truly, an Ex G'nat worth having. Piazza was a self-absorbed cKunt who never should have left. Claire gave him that huge (at the time) 2 year deal and then offered him the biggest contract in baseball and that still wasn't good enough? Brett Butler aptly called him out as a '90's player and to his credit, never said I told you so when proven correct.

    Piazza did not leave.
    He was traded.
Sure he was self absorbed 90's player.
It was the 90's. 80's players didn't like it, lots of older fans didnt like it.
Us young guys didn't care. It was all we knew.
I was a little kid in the 80's and while I loved the Dodgers and 1988 was awesome I was still a kid.
I did not know or cared about player politics. I didnt care about how much a player made or who he disliked on the team or if he was self absorbed or not.
Frankly I think that was a better time. Not the 90's or any particular era in baseball but the time you grow up as a young fan. Fandom gets corrupted by all sorts of shit once a fan starts getting into his middle or late teens.

Jeff Samardzija got an MRI on his shoulder and is being examined. Pretty clear he will begin thto season on the DL. Significant blow for a Giants rotation already unproven at the back end.

Yikes! They may throw Derek Holland in the 3rd game of that opening series.

Didn't think anybody was arguing against me Rube...I was just stating my opinion on the guy, like everyone else does. Sharing my thoughts and reasons why I admired the guy.
OK, I had you wrong on Piazza...wasn't going at you for it.
    Jeez.
I thought he guy was great, too. Something happened man.
Guess he had his reasons. Whenever a favorite player ( heroic) goes to another team, and it's not a smarmy greed filled move, like that AZ pitcher, I suspect that there was some kind of disrespect shown the player...and I seem unable to forget that this beloved team of mine traded Jackie to the SF cksuckers...or tried to.
Some stigma never wanes in it's gravitas...the Dodger Holocaust.

'Tis a small pleasure...I am was much the same, but tottering off to antiquity as I am, such things are becoming such tiny, almost insignificant petty victories that have to suffice.
In lieu of true victory, I am fully conscious that any scaby SFag fan can shoot back a retort and simply ask one of us," and when was the last time you guys won it all? Really?...oh...we've had three since then. Did you know"?
We can insult them here voraciously, chuckle and snicker at their second worst in baseball's record on 2017, call them dick smokers and sodomites, belittle their minor leagues...etc., etc., etc.
It all helps the hatred flow. The excoriation feeds the insolence towards these loathsome orange things.
But somewhere, in the deep addled recesses of my shrinking grey matter, I know they have achieved what we haven't, what we can't, it appears...and all the assorted excuses we can muster up to explain it, in reality, doesn't change shit.
