?

If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

    Sure is. Good find.
You never know what will happen, but letting Kershaw pitch for another team seems unimaginable...too young at the time to experience the emotion of trading Jackie to the Gnats...willing to let an icon who helped change America go to the arch enemy - but I surely will feel a whole lot if they would let Kershaw exit.
By whatever avenue it may be.
As the season winds down, we'll get the statists and ageist viewpoints why they should.
    Ad nauseam.

my greatest hope would be for matt to contribute greatly to another WS run and be a hero
my realistic best case would be a decent few months without injury and a trade

Yup, either way the Dodgers win :D
    Kershaw must be resigned.
Even if it means not going after a Machado or Harper.
We are so deep in the OF and big power hitting veteran OF's are valued so low right now that it is easy to get great production from those areas.
Even SS is no longer an easy out. Seager is not in the era pf Jeter/A-Rod where only a small handful of guys can be offensively great at the position. It is now become required that a SS hit at least like a 2B of just a few years ago.

i know guys talk about his numbers and his age but so far its been a pretty underwhelming career after that first half a year in the majors
wasn't meaning to say his stock was high per se just that after his performance it was as high as its been for a while
    not saying much i know

Can’t say I’m surprised. I was saying here that the Guggs may not spend in 2019 other than try to re-sign CK.

That being said, I’m not sure going after Machado or Harper is as good as trying to get better SP.

    I actually dont.
I did not really get into the game as far as knowing who was who until I was around 10/11 years old.
Before that i probably just knew them all as anonymous Dodgers player. When you are a little kid it really is all about the name on the front of the jersey. At least for me because I didn't have a family member to instill love for the players or even the team.
I just loved watching the games on the little 13 inch black and white.
First favorite player was Mike Marshall... because hes the first I remember.
And then I remember not liking Steve Sax for a while.
Then not understanding why/how Jeff Hamilton was the starting 3B.
It looks like I started to get into the team right around the time Russell retired.
Im sure I watched him play but I have no recollection.
I just knew he was this old guy who kept popping up in my 87 baseball card packs.

He has not aged well. And hasn’t changed either.

Yeah, he hit club thermostats, almost hit a kid with his car, Kenny Lofton’ boom box....hit so many things the Indians charged him approximately $10K per year for all the damage he caused.

Good arm too. Threw plates, food, you name it.

Looks like a giraffe compared the great Walter No Neck Williams.

Some great Jim Murray quotes on No Neck.......

“The irregular left fielder of the Chicago White Sox,” the sportswriter Jim Murray called him in 1970, adding just a tad unkindly: “A fine broth of a man, over 190 pounds, he is 6 feet tall, only it doesn’t show on the outside. What you can see of Walt Williams is 5 feet 6.”

Murray quoted an unnamed scout as saying, “He looks as if somebody tried to cram him into a suitcase when they heard the cops coming.”

Belle had a neck as a player though.
This guy Albert Belle went full Kirby Puckett in retirement, even with the whole sexual misconduct play

Forgot all about that classic encounter with Belle going beast mode
Vina would've been pissed if he had any idea who he was or what he was doing after getting trucked
