'Tis true. Grows each day in his value and continues without fail.
And imo, each day that passes without at least some overture towards him, increases the chances of not signing him. Of course, there might be much we don't know occurring backstage.
I care somewhat about useless, apparently sophomoric moves like Joey Gallo. But compared to the already aggravating procrastination on TT, it's rendered irrelevant. Insignificant.
But I just don't get it, even amongst the overall adoration of AFs cleverness and bb acumen.
    But Ashkenazi, please.
Lock the goy up, for crissakes.

August has so far featured a huge seven game stretch against the Giants and Padres. How did we sweep both series? Great pitching, both starters and relievers, paired with these hot bats:

    OPS
    1.189 Muncy
    1.066 Bellinger
    1.051 Betts
    1.032 Smith
    .944 Outman
    .759 Lux
    .722 Turner
    .713 Freeman

    .400 Gallo

Man, if Cody and Max can continue this resurgence for the rest of the season, just imagine.

Looking at post-ASG OPS, Thompson is at .992 over 41 ABs. So why does Gallo (6 K's in 10 ABs) start over him?

i guess they want to see if they can get his power rolling but i'm w you Thompson is paying the price and he is/was in a zone
get Gallo some ab's but keep Trayce fresh and ballin like he has been
Max and Lody are really starting to swing the bat and i think Max is about ready to explode

Gallo is a waste of a roster spot. I get that we can afford to mess around with the lineup due to the huge divisional lead but I hate that he's stealing ABs from way more deserving players. I watched a lot of Yankees baseball(yuck) this season and the guy is completely done between the ears.

These tweets make my heart warm

The Mookie trade is the worst Boston trade of my lifetime - in any sport. It was an unconscionable catastrophe of a trade when it happened and now in Aug 2022 it’s somehow even worse. They got 12 cents on the dollar. It’s a fucking apocalypse. The owners should apologize weekly.

Mookie’s a completely different dude in LA. He was never this loose in Boston. Pains me to say it, but he seems way happier there.

Fuck the Red Sox and their fans. I hope this trade haunts them forever.

The Gallo thing on the surface makes no sense to me. It didn't a week ago and is even more perplexing now. It almost seems like we did it as a favor to the Yankees, taking a headache off their hands. I keep hoping that management knows something we don't and it will soon become apparent, but with every passing game I lose more faith on that. I'd rather that guys like Thompson, Outman, and Vargas play more to see if they'd be worth including on the postseason roster, or at a minimum CT3 who may strike out as often but adds value in numerous other ways.

I agree that they should sign TT to a long-term contract.

But there are certain players, and Trea professed to be one in the offseason, who do not talk contract during the season. Many teams won't do it as well, although that practice seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Demanding that they extend him in the season is a great idea, but possibly not one that his agent nor Turner nor Friedman will commit to for whatever standard business practice reason.

Otherwise... yeah, sign the feckin guy.

seems like the dodgers dragged their feet and/or weren’t ready to commit…

    Well ...

I'd not heard that Trea was open to in-season negotiations. I'd read the EXACT opposite. But I wasn't exactly Peter Gammons after last October when LA fell on their asses vs Atlanta.

    Anyway ... Sign him.

Sure...it was the Soto failure. And TT knoows that, too. Now we need him more than ever for the near future.
Don't think we're going to sweep SD every time we play this team with that lineup.
How much better can he realistically ?

The great revamped SD offense hasn't had a runner cross home plate in 23 consecutive innings now.

This is quite impressive, since he was supposed to be done for the year. And it's cool that he's a lifelong fan. That said, the best scenario for the Dodgers is one where there isn't a spot open on the roster for Kevin Pillar.

Don't blame Andrew for saying no if this is true......not surprised the Nats wanted more from us

@EWOKinLA According to jphoornstra, the Nats ask for Soto was: Cartaya & Miller. 3 out of the group of Pepiot, Vargas, Busch, Pages, and Grove. And then 3 other “Wild Card Prospects”

That is absolutely ludicrous. If true, I'm so glad AF said no. In fact, I would've been incensed if he agreed. Just mind boggling that the Nats accepted so much less from SD, then threw in Bell as well. Makes no sense. I'd be pretty pissed if I was their fans. I wonder what StL would've given up.

Still say we should just outright sign him after 2024 if we're still interested, and then he can have Cartaya, Miller, and others as teammates.

I wonder if there is some sour grapes from the Nats for the Turner/Scherzer deal. Gray has been throwing batting practice and Ruiz has shown 0 power. Stupid to operate that way but the Nationals have done everything you can possibly do wrong after 2019.

Would you trade a package like that for Ohtani?

Could be some sour grapes, but it's also too early for them to fully assess Gray and Ruiz. Plus not all prospects work out, it's always a gamble. I'm sure some of what they got from SD will flop too.

But even given that... I still wouldn't give up that package for Ohtani. Too much risk of injury in one player, and he hasn't been the best specimen of health to begin with.

Still think Gray is going to be there
