    Indeed.
I go back to Sandy Amaros ( nice catch, ese) and Andy Pafko ( I think) out there.

Actually a huge, poorly designed, weakness of the LAD, if you contemplate it.
They only want/ need (wrongly) defensive replacements because the starting lineup is juggernautish...as long as they're all there. But now they're not all there, by no means, so a 150 lb. statue 3b, and a guy batting .130, another at .195, etc....just doesn't help the offense.
Not gonna, no way, and it's a gaping wound.
Btw, this is the real Paxton...behold.

If we have a chance at Pillar I'd dfa cund or kike np. A solid bat off the bench would be a God send

    @TheInclinePod
The Dodgers put in a trade offer for LHP Garrett Crochet, but it was quickly rejected per Bob Nightengale.

Consider the source......but he'd definitely be my top SP to acquire

I don't know, is SP really our biggest need? You know that if we acquire a new starter, Knack is the one who's out, and he's actually not been the problem for the Dodgers.

There's just no way a Crochet trade happens, IMO.

    1. Not enough of a track record as a SP. This is his first season starting, and though he looks dominant, I'd be a little nervous as a GM pulling the trigger. I don't see a team meeting their huge asking price.
    2. White Sox will value him WAY more highly than teams around the league will, mostly because of point number 1.
    3. White Sox still have team control for 2 more years AFTER this one. They can move him next year and still get a nice package, if not a better package if he continues to show he can dominate as a SP.
    4. "Most" trades don't come together very quickly (we've heard many GM's talk about this). I doubt Crochet was a guy on a lot of team's radars before the year started, so everyone is probably scrambling to do their due diligence (the White Sox included because they will want to be looking at the potential trade partners prospects). Because of the lack of familiarity, they are no doubt going to be asking for all of a team's best prospects, instead of 1 or 2 and a couple guys they identify as potential hidden gems.

That said, they could capitalize while the opportunity is there and pull the trigger now on the best deal they get since they won't be competing for anything for years. Which is probably the smart route tbh, but I feel like they won't.

Or a team could pony up and meet their huge asking price in desperation.

I think improving the back of the lineup is probably the biggest need but I definitely think we should add a starter.

This is Stone's first full year in the majors, Yamamoto is already hurt, and our ace has a really bad track record with injuries. The more quality starters, the better imo. Knack has been nice but I'd need to see a lot more to trust him in the playoffs. I do not trust Buehler/Miller/Kershaw/Paxton for many reasons at this point. Crochet has an insane strikeout rate, makes 800K the next two years, and is only 25. This is the type of guy that could be a frontline starter for many years.

But I can't imagine what kind of deal the White Sox would want for him and have to imagine the price is ridiculously high

All very valid points. I'll admit that I am drooling over the strikeout rate and was personally impressed with what I saw against us.

It definitely feels unrealistic but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want it to happen

Marlins DFA Tim Anderson. Former White Sox SS has .214 AVG this season.

we were rumored to be all over this idiot last year (before jose ramirez knocked him on his ass)
really hoping friedman doesn’t feel the need to add another .200ish hitter

Oh he is absolutely on his way to LA. This front office would love to grab another miserable middle infielder in hopes of turning him around.

I'm guessing a DFA of Biggio and an Anderson signing by tomorrow.

biggio is safe because he bats lefty
can't get rid of kiké because of his popularity
and they'll keep lux because of his promise
nah they'll dfa taylor, who... will get picked up by nyy, hit .400 through oct, win alcs and ws mvp, and be forever remembered as a yankee hero

but not to worry, anderson will make his mark as a dodger...
he'll get into a fight with the padres and get knocked unconscious by profar
