TBH I'm on the fence. On one hand, there's nothing to lose, and it'd make for a helluva feel-good story. OTOH, it kind of feels like we should let the Dodger part of his story end on the highest of notes, recording the championship-securing save last October. Just a hunch that he wouldn't have the same success this year. And remember, last year both the starting rotation and pen were held together with scotch tape during the postseason. This year - again, knocking on wood - everyone seems to be coming back healthy when needed most. I think the Dodgers are already going to have some tough decisions on which relievers don't get to be on the postseason roster. Adding Buehler would just muddy that further. Plus a name would have to go from the 40-man.

But like I said, I'm okay either way. They'd have to do the signing by 8/31 though, otherwise he'd be ineligible for the playoffs - so we'll know soon enough.

That's eight listed. Including Vesia, Kopech, and Stewart, that makes 11. The max, including starters, is 13. With the Dodgers five starters (fortunately Ohtani doesn't count), that's 16. So already three won't be on the roster. Buehler would make it messier.

And yes, I really doubt Yates, if healthy, will be left off.

yeah you're right unless they were to add another arm while deleting a position player like conforto
two weeks ago i would have said Henriquez but he really looks like he's gonna be something

You can no longer do that, unless you're below the pitcher limit. 13 is the max for pitchers, in the regular season up to the end of August and in the playoffs. In September, they can add two players, but the pitcher limit goes up only one to 14.

Probably. Still... my love for the real Dusty ended when he started race-baiting with Joe Morgan in the late 80s & early 90s.

Phillies sign Buehler to minor-league deal after Red Sox release
    https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3335570

The Philthies take a flyer on Ferris ....

The Philadelphia Phillies signed right-hander Walker Buehler to a minor-league contract, the team announced Sunday.

Buehler, who will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, is eligible to participate in the postseason, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports.

The Boston Red Sox released Buehler on Friday. He's struggled this season after signing a one-year, $21.05-million deal in December.

From an Athletic article on the deal.........(muy feo)

There are reasons to doubt whether Buehler can contribute in a meaningful way. He lugged a 5.45 ERA with 22 homers allowed in 112 1/3 innings with the Boston Red Sox this season. His strikeout rate (16.5 percent) was the lowest of his career and his walk rate (10.8 percent) was the highest. Boston had seen enough and released Buehler last week.

Yes, but I don't see anyone around here suggesting the Dodgers pick him up.

so Phillies had a shot prior to LA i'm guessing cause if not i'm sure the Dodgers would have stashed him in the minors as well...right?
