    I've read a couple short blurbs on River Ryan this past week. All good stuff. Not only could he have pitched in the postseason (they decided to play it safe with him), but his fastball was sitting at 98-100. He's added a new pitch - his seventh - though he's keeping under wraps for now. He's hitting the weights with a goal of being more durable. And unlike a certain clown-looking salad throat cutting ginger that used to pitch for the team, he's willing to work in whatever role he's asked.

    This rotation could be crazy good this year.

    i know guys come up figuring to be starters like May but why is that?
    shouldn't any thrower, or any player for that matter be willing to do whatever the team needs?
    its not like making the bullpen is going to shorten the life of a pitcher

    It's basically greed. Starters on average earn more than relievers, so a pitcher might think he's capping his earning potential if he goes to the pen. But an elite reliever could earn more than a mediocre starter, especially if it extends his playing years. We'll see how May's career plays out. In the case of Ryan, I expect that even if he starts the season in long relief, he'll be back in a starter role at some point.

    anyone else thinking the ruiz trade was just to open a roster spot for bichette or tucker?
    yeah, me neither
    then again… nothing would surprise me from this ownership group — and that’s what makes it great to be a dodger fan in the 2020’s

    Some of it probably has to do with the stability of being a starter. You can develop a regimen. You know you're going to go every 5th day. Different mindset than pitching out of the pen.

    Never heard of Sandy drilling anyone (no homo). The reason Roseboro took matters into his own hands with the Marichal thing was that Sandy didn't throw at people.
