    • The Tucker deal which includes an opt-out after the second and third years, a $64 million signing bonus and $30 million deferred, according to multiple reports.

    @Klein25
    • The Blue Jays thought they signed Shohei Ohtani. Dodgers won.
    • The Blue Jays prioritized signing Roki Sasaki. The Dodgers won.
    • The Blue Jays thought they won the 2025 World Series. The Dodgers won.
    • The Blue Jays thought they signed Kyle Tucker. The Dodgers won again. Brutal

    Pretty crazy contract, but hey, it's not my money. We fans will probably suffer down the road when the team has to pay all the deferrals and the players are long gone, impacting the rosters they can field at that time, but I'm not going to worry about that at this point. You've got to love this ownership group doing everything they can to win now. I still would have preferred Bichette and then dipping into the prospects pool later in the year, but this gives the minor leaguers more time to develop with less pressure. I hope it doesn't mean there will be a wholesale trading of outfield prospects. We'll still need a Teo replacement in a couple years if not sooner due to continued regression. Also, was Pages' late slump temporary or something more concerning? And in theory, Tucker could opt out as early as '28. And then there's the potential for injuries to the starters... there always is.

    What a contract this guy got. They must have REALLY wanted him. Holy shit.
    I say, if he produces and doesn't get injured ( I really wasn't aware of his consecutive season IL problems), we have him at the most, 2 years. If he is Conforto- like in his tenure with LA, the he stays for the full 4. Why not go out there again if he rakes and get an even better payday in this annually skyrocketing salary environment ? Does he get one night a week with Kristin, too ?
    It's not genius stuff here, but how goddam good is this guy?
    Like Laststatman wrote...it's not my money, but daammm.
    I think Tucker was born a very lucky guy...timing really is everything, isn't it ?

    Bo’s contract with the mets seems to be a better deal for what I feel is an even better player. Very weird how we didn’t go for him. Maybe they know something we don’t.

    i would have preferred bo as well and i think @lastatman felt that way too
    just seemed like a better fit
    but since the FO has won two straight titles and acquiring tucker moves teo to lf, i guess we’ll have to trust their judgement

    @TalkinBaseball_
    Bo Bichette will play third base for the Mets, a position he has not played in his MLB career (via @JonHeyman)

    nice pivot mets
    sounds like a great idea
    you lose alonso, diaz (sorry, not sorry), tucker (lolz), and now sign a guy for $42M/yr to play somewhere he’s never played???
    your fanbase must be thrilled

    Glad we no longer have to endure the "resign Bellinger" chatter. That would have likely persisted even if we had got Bichette, but thankfully the Tucker acquisition completely puts that to rest.

    Who gets dropped from the 40-man? I think the obvious choice would be Michael Siani, whom the Dodgers just claimed off waivers last month. He has no bat and the only way I see them keeping him is as a potential late game defensive replacement in the playoffs, essentially filling the Justin Dean role. If they do want to hold him for that purpose, then Ryan Ward is likely next up.

    What other changes could the team possibly make the rest of the offseason? Possibly none, unless there's an opportunity to strengthen the pen a bit. But even there, they seem pretty set. The Diaz signing is huge, and I think the team's belief is that 2025 was an outlier for Scott. They also believe Treinen still has value and expectations are for Henriquez to continue to progress. Vesia, Banda, and Wrobo will fill their typical roles, and how do you not give WS-hero Klein a shot, too. With Brusdar back from injury and Stone, Ryan, and Hurt also available, I don't see much room to experiment with relief pitcher signings, unless it's in minor league contracts. No, there's a good chance this is the team we open the season with.

    Dodgers don't really have any other needs. I could see them trying to deal a LHP because of roster crunch, but this should be about it for the off-season

    @MLBDeadlineNews
    The #Phillies are close to an agreement with free-agent C JT Realmuto, per @Ken_Rosenthal and @MattGelb.

    only after fanning on tucker and bo
    realmuto probably feeling like table scraps
    speaking of relationships, nice to see that connection with mattingly really paid dividends in landing bo
    lol phils
