    @Klein25
Feels like the Dodgers could be working on a Peralta trade to flip him and Rushing for something potentially big.

    Tarik Skubal says hello bKitches.

I did this exercise last year before spring training, so on a slow baseball news day might as well do an update.

Top 24 in Career WAR as Dodgers:

    1. Kershaw 80.9
    2. Reese 68.5
    3. Drysdale 67.1
    4. Snider 65.4
    5. Robinson 61.8
    6. Wheat 59.9
    7. Vance 59.2
    8. W. Davis 54.7
    9. Koufax 48.9
    10. Sutton 48.8
    11. Cey 47.7
    12. Rucker 47.6
    13. Hershiser 44.4
    14. Hodges 43.2
    15. Gilliam 40.8
    16. Valenzuela 36.8
    17. Garvey 36.7
    18. Campanella 35.7
    19. Walker 35.0
    20. Furillo 34.6
    21. Turner 34.6
    22. Pfeffer 33.9
    23. Kennedy 33.4
    24. Welch 32.9

Why 24? Because that's who gets their headshot on the team page in Baseball Reference.

So, with Kershaw's retirement, there are no active players on this list. The obvious question is, which of the current players are getting close or at least have a chance to make it down the road?

Like last year, Betts is the nearest, and he's a hell of a lot closer than last year. If my addition is correct, he's juuuuuuuust outside of the top-24 with a 32.8 total. In '25 he added 4.9 to his total, so he can displace Welch after the first couple weeks and by the end of the season could be up above Garvey and Fernando. Assuming he stays healthy and productive, top 10 is not an unrealistic target.

Next is Muncy at 27.2. The one season left on his contract won't get him there, so unless he gets an extension, he's going to come up short.

Smith is already at 23.0. At his current pace he should be there in three years, knocking Brickyard Kennedy off the list, and then will have five more years to climb the rankings.

Freddie at 21.2 is in the same boat as Muncy. He won't get there within the two remaining years of his contract, but he says he wants to play beyond age 38 and if there's a Dodger extension in his future, he may have a chance. However he's averaged a 4.1 WAR over the past two seasons and at that pace would probably need at least two additional years. It's a long shot.

Ohtani has a WAR of 15.8 after only two seasons and is well on his way.

Yoshi registered only a 1.8 his first season but came back strong with a 4.9 last year. Assuming he stays relatively healthy, he should have no problem getting there over the remaining ten years on his contract.

This is an OUTSTANDING analysis. Just excellent.

When I taught writing, I emphasized the C-B-A rubric: the answer to the prompt gets a C, the explanation of the answer gets a B, and an analysis of the explanation earns an A. I was a tough grader. A's involve studious, diligent, euphonic address. Nothing is left out.

Your post is a fucking A+

Can't get enough of seeing Dodger content on YT. And I didn't know what WPA was until I saw this.

7 of the 10 games are Dodger games.

Reliving the Niedenfuer and Broxton moments was painful.

I don't disagree that Andruw Jones is HOF worthy, despite his failure in LA. But according to Chipper Jones, he's the greatest outfielder of all time. I think Chipper needs to brush up on his baseball history a bit.

    @espn
Breaking: Cody Bellinger and the New York Yankees are in agreement on a five-year, $162.5 million free agent contract, sources tell @JeffPassan.
There are opt-outs after the second and third season, plus a no-trade clause.

yankees really backed themselves into a corner on this one
good for cody, bad for NYY

I agree. Seems like a pretty good package for Bellinger considering that the leverage should've been in the Yankees favor. Happy for Cody, I guess, but I was hoping Boras would have to sweat it out a little more.

Can anyone help me out here? If I'm buying a pair of single game 2026 tickets at Dodger stadium, why does it say that my tickets are guaranteed, but they (Stub Hub) will notify the seller and let me know once the tickets are available? Is this typical for this venue, or am I missing something?

Yeah, that’s normal. Stubhub does not actually hold the tickets since they’re tied to another human. They rely on the seller to release the ticket once stubhub holds the funds. If the seller cannot release the ticket (rare), then stubhub will either refund you or give you something of equal value (if you agree to it).
