almost have to get skubal
not just to block others from getting him (although that is a huge motivator), but because who knows what limitations there will be after the strike, work stoppage, er labor discussions
would have to imagine all existing contracts would be grandfathered in, but definitely no guarantees moving forward
imagine having to compete with other teams on an equal playing field… that would be so unfair!!!



edit: the only question (and it’s a tough one to forecast)… is post-surgery skubal going to be as good as pre-surgery skubal, or will he be mike clevinger 2.0?

based on his three post-op starts, not looking real positive so far

 

I get that De Paula is untouchable. I'd like to see Sirota there too unless they can get a topline pitching prospect, which isn't likely as all teams would love that luxury. Just thinking that De Paula and Sirota could hold down the corner OF positions for the next decade in a couple years, with Pages in center or if he doesn't stop with the mental blunders then Quintero. I'm all for trading Hope, Davalan, Tibbs, etc if they can improve their depth in the minors.

I keep an occasional eye on the Dodgers All-Time WAR leaders (WAR during their time with the Dodgers). Baseball Reference has the top 24 on its main team page so it doesn't take much effort. Mookie had been approaching the list for a while and his recent flurry of success pushed him up on it, displacing Bob Welch (and leapfrogging a couple early century dudes). Muncy is up next and could get there by the end of the season if he continues at his current pace. Would be cool to see him take the place of Brickyard Kennedy. After that we need someone to knock off Jeff Pfeiffer - a name I don't ever associate with Dodger success, and while I'm sure he was instrumental during his time, I can't imagine his contributions would match today's players.
