imo whoever acquires him re-signs/extends him reason(s) being: no team wants to give up that much for only a three-month rental skubal and boras know there’s no guarantees after the labor stoppage, so they’ll want to get as much as possible before the rules change and even though teams aren’t allowed to negotiate with a player before a potential trade, rest assured they’re will be a lot of handshake deals being discussed behind the scenes captain obvious, but depaula is the only true untouchable prospect something like sheehan/sirota/hope would probably be a fair swap i’m not saying we should offer that nor am i saying it would be enough there’s just no way to know imo if they asked for wrobleski it should be a hard no who knows
so you'd give up those 3 for a rental? would seem all involved would want to focus on extension w the exception of borass who's always looking for max. if it were a sign and trade who do you think LA would trade?
Would love to ruin baseball one last time before the lockout, but I wouldn't sign Skubal to a massive long-term Boras deal when he hits FA after the season.
Yo bro...y' know, that's is a hard no on Wrobo, although, if he was to go to a foe, it would be low and cause woe. So?
I think Detroit would jump at that if it were offered, and the Dodgers would come to regret it. Way too much.
more like a Flaherty type deal right? they traded a AAA ss and another low A minor leaguer. i'm sure Skubal would require more than that but how much? one AAA player like Davalan and a couple of lower level guys. but i'm sure they're looking for a MUCH better haul.
not sure we should offer anything for him tbh just hate the thought of another contender adding him which is why i think AF possibly dropped the “we’re not interested in him” comment it is too much, but it could ultimately be what detroit asks possibly gets
No idea what the cost will be. I don't have any data, but it seems like MLB front offices have become more stingy about trading premium prospects for half-season rentals. The Tigers will be under a lot of pressure to not let Skubel walk for nothing, so they may not have as much leverage as they think.
skubal’s last two outings (combined): • 11 IP / 2 ER / 6 H / 18 K / 3 BB / 183 P not saying he’s completely back, but after a somewhat (and understandable) rocky return he seems (other than a high pitch count) to be headed in the right direction still not sure we should overpay for him i just don’t like the idea of him going to ATL, PHI or MILW someone on twitter posted “who needs skubal when we’ve got wrobo” completely agree, but you also can NEVER have too much (good) starting pitching that said, even without snell and glass a postseason trio of yama/shohei/wrobo would be pretty formidable i guess i need to stfu and trust in AF & Co to do what’s best for the team but, being a fan, that’s sometimes easier said than done oh well, good problem to have i guess
@JeffSpiegel You could make the case that Skubal staying in Detroit is the best case scenario for the Dodgers — none of their true rivals get him + it probably increases the likelihood he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. (Plus, obviously, the Dodgers keep their prospects).
Tigers are 8-2 over their last ten, on a 5-game win streak, and only 3.5 back in the wildcard. Here's hoping they decide to not trade Skubal.
@GetUpESPN "If there is a team that's gonna go get Tarik Skubal, ... it is the Los Angeles Dodgers." @JeffPassan on the Tigers potentially trading Skubal. link to VIDEO
@FoulTerritoryTV Tarik Skubal has informed friends he badly wants to stay in Detroit for the rest of the season and has zero appetite to be traded, per @BNightengale. sorry, i see nothing other than “per bob nightengale”
@DodgersOnSI Mookie Betts revealed he won't be going to the White House with the Dodgers to celebrate the 2025 World Series championship. nice job mook way to be a leader for the young players and a good teammate …
great opportunity to just stay quiet and show up w the team. literally the only point of division i have seen w the team. he's clearly listening to the wrong people cause he didn't make that decision on his own. trust your instincts and leave that shit behind mook. what would that have cost you?
I think Kike started it by saying he's not going because of his rehab but even if he weren't injured he wouldn't go. You go for team unity and for respect of the office. I've hated some past Presidents but if I were in this situation, I'd definitely go out of respect. Wish celebrities could keep their personal politics private. Nobody cares where you stand on a topic, just entertain us as you're getting paid a lot of money to do and STFU.
Makes it real easy not to watch baseball. I check the box score or look at youtube highlights, but will never be fully invested because of stuff like this
