I had this idea that I want to put out there. Currently you can only have your number retired as a Dodger if you make the Hall of Fame. Exception, Jim Gilliam. Many believe Fernando deserves the honor but he's not a Hall of Famer. I want to petition for another exception but in this case this man IS a Hall of Famer. The Dodgers should retire #67. Not for any player who wore the number but for the greatest Dodger of all time, Vin Scully. It would be a first and probably the last time it would happen and he would be forever enshrined, even more so, at Dodger Stadium. What do you guys think?

Yeah, nice idea. And it's not like any player is going to be wearing number 67...cool.
I like Gilliam; watched his career for a long long time...but if anybody should have his number up there with all those other boys, then it should be number 14.
Hodges meant so much to the team, in many ways, even more than Junior, imo.
So yes to Vinny in the circle.
    Just my tuppence.

I guess they won't retire Piazza

I like the 67 for Vin idear.

22 will never be worn by another Dodger player again.

The statue thing is way overdone, but if anyone gets one it should be the great Vin.

And I think they should stick with the policy of only retiring numbers of HOFers (Gilliam being the exception, of course).

They should retire Brett Anderson's number, and Brett Anderson.

Don't want that stench around the Dodgers ever again.

    I dont.
The HOF gets it wrong sometimes. And other times they are plain out motivated by baseball politics... that goes double for us as a west coast team.
The most iconic moment of the last 30 some odd years of a Dodger is the Kirk Gibson HR.
He was barely a Dodger for a short time but his impact is world famous.
And that is what a hall of fame is all about.
Kirk should get a statue with his fist in the air. Or first pumping. Or with both hands up. Or in his crouch before the HR. Etc..

I agree with the Hodges sentiment. Besides he should be in the Hall, as a player and a manager.

This is a major reason why I see no problem with it. It's perfect. A statue is great but there's statues all around sports. It's not a unique honor by any means. Retiring #67 would be a very unique honor which would likely never be duplicated, much like Vin's career. He did something we will never see again so let's do something that's never been done to honor THE man.

Best example of too many statues is outside Staples Center.

Joe Davis would have to broadcast until 2082 to match Vin's time card. Lol

Really? From what I've heard people last season were complaining about too many statues inside Staples Center.

    Well done, Pops.

I see there's still some bite in the old dog.

    No, I don't think that's necessary.

Also, what fucking disrespect to Louis Coleman.
