GQ, Playboy, Turok Comics, Modelling Magazines. Varied art mags. Mad. Books : Mein Kampf , Catcher in the Rye, Moby Dick, All Quiet on the Western Front, any Jack London book. Last of the Mohicans. The Leatherstocking Tales. It's long ago...there were more, but I simply can't remember.
Reading "The Lost Art of Reading Nature's Signs"and it reveals that in California, there exists 1400 plants that are found no where else in the world. So...rise on.up and rejoice !
Yup, California is rich. I dont know how anyone would ever want to leave other than for family reasons. I was looking through a book called Trail of the Last Paiute about a young indian boy trying to help his grandma cross the desert back to her birthplace in California.
They might want to leave because of the politicians in CA ? They seem more putrid and decayed than other places. The plants are exceptional, though...
True but there are people everywhere. You gonna find corruption everywhere. And honestly housing is affordable if you know where to look. Some people try to live out here like if it was the east coast. You really have to adopt the carefree California lifestyle where less is more if you want to survive out here. But if you do... its pretty great.
There are scummy people everywhere...no arguments there. But the % of the most disgusting, decrepit ones are concentrated in CA. Definitely.
In the big cities like LA and SF. And mostly anything 30 minutes near the sea. But that is everywhere in the world. If you drive 30 minutes east of LA you will find the real CA. If you ever drive up into Devin Nunes territory its like you in the old west still.
can i send it to you? think of it as checking out a book from an online book club you belong to full disclosure... i look forward to reading your thoughts on the book
Nice of you to offer, I must say. But I've got so much waiting to read, I wouldn't want to leave it so long. If I make decent progress, I 'll let you know. Thanks.
I'll find it a good home in the meanwhile. If you change your mind I have plenty of smaller pulpy stuff that would be a fun walk down memory lane for you. I been selling tomes for a bit now but only to locals who come in through the magic door. I don't sell through the mail yet. I wanted my first online sale to be a gift. For good luck. Still have some caveman superstition in my DNA.
