    Watching my 2nd grade son sledding down our ice-covered lawn and onto the street with the neighbor kids ... welp, it's pure joy for me. I never had that as a SoCal puke and never touched snow until I was almost 21.

    (that last sentence is all yours, @irish)

    It's cold as a witch's teat & warm climates always chirp about that, but fuck that nonsense. Four seasons is the right way to grow up, and it makes the spring much cooler after a long, cold winter.

    Anyway... I hope @Bluezoo is holding up well. I imagine him glowering out his kitchen window, telling the icestorm to feck off.

    Yeah, I wish I was looking out the window cozily, like a little French Bulldog, but I ' ve been out there shovelling in all my octogenarian glory, trying to open some kind of pathway to get out of the house and a spot for the dag to do her dirt without sinking below the snow surface. An Irish Wofhound she's not.
    It's bad enough with the fucking "global warming " snowfall, but now they are telling us to expect sub- zero temperatures.
    Ah, if life was only like the Hallmark cards...

    Obviously not as bad here as it is in your area, but we also have two sub-zero nights tonight & tomorrow. Ella the beagle is a sketch, scampering in the icy crust & trying to dig up the moles under the walnut tree.

    There is a lot that I hate about this state, but the climate is the number one reason I don't ever see myself leaving California. I read your and BZ's and other people's accounts of the temps and I can't even reconcile it in my head. We're in the 50's today on a sunny day, but we drop into the hi 20's/low 30's at night and that's about my limit. I'd never make it in your climate - I'm a major pussy when it comes to the cold.     Some of you fine fellows should visit NW NJ, where the temperature this morning rocketed to 3°...
    The high today is predicted to be 19°...and continue at that level well into next week.

    Samey Same here. Hit 1 degree overnight & sitting at a balmy 12 now. Might make it to 22 by this afternoon.

    If Accuweather is right, Tucky won't reach the 40s again until Feb 6.

    Cars haven't left the driveway in 5 days but I'm gonna brave the plowed roads to buy groceries tomorrow. Wish me luck...

    feel sorry for you guys
    coldest we get out here is generally the lower teens
    although inaccurateweather says we’re due for a couple weeks of snow toward the end of february
    we’ll see
