place i just sold was off a canyon and it was cool to watch them and hear the howls. i walked that canyon all the time and would catch glimpses of them. from my experiences they want nothing to do w humans in general. at one point the people living in that condo had a cat and they let it outside. super smart cat and it loved the game. i'd sit outside on the lower deck and that cat could jump in between. would catch flashes of a coyote in that instant when the cat suddenly sprung to the top deck. incredibly fast and brilliant hunters.
Agree completely re: "if you leave your kid alone long enough for a coyote to stalk it maybe you should watch your children closer..." It's not the yotes I'm averse to. It's the inane policy of serving up multiple thousands of cats so apex predators stick around rather than head for rural areas. Fuck ... Disneyland has cat wranglers that feed & maintain care for hundreds of feral cats. Great for DLAnd to control rodents, bad for half a cat's corpse being found by my 6 yr old walking in thw park. Anyway ... I prefer most yotes to most common folks, but when one of them is shadowing us across a residential street as I push a baby in a stroller... well, I carried my pistol in that instance because a hungry predator emboldened by shitty animal control practices is still a threat. Of course nothing resulted but the practice continues. It's one more thing about SoCal that's utterly fucked up.
yeah i've seen them shadowing or at least noticing my motion w a little kid. never felt nervous for a moment that they might approach from their 50 yard gap. but i can understand a gun as a hedge if you were concerned. not sure if you watched the video but i learned some stuff and admire those animals more than i did. would have to guess they have some understanding that humans are off the table when it comes to meal time.

RIP Sam Neill. Guy was a really terrific actor...I've never seen him as anything but skilled and Will miss him...a real pro He is known for worldwide blockbuster, like Jurassic Park, but he is really worth watching in Australian films that are seldom seen in the US.
Bought a box of these for my kids .... Otter Pops were part of my kidhood, and now they are part of my kids'. The newer ones - such as Cherry Gueverry - crack me up, but I get to teach the kids about each name variant. In a world that looks shitty sometimes, popsicles in summer still makes me happy.

Bison looked like a bull in the rut to me. I might be off on that, but they get real cranky when they want to get laid. I love the animal, have painted them about a dozen times over the years, and I would be more than happy to explain to him that you just have to deal with it. I certainly learned how to...
