    offer ct3/grove/outman for arenado + cash
    still don’t like it due to arenado’s decline
    but at least it would probably force mookie back to the outfield

    the poster said "i had no idea"
    nor did i
    kind of a misleading stat though tbh
    back in the day starters used to routinely pitch complete games and extra innings, whereas today's starters rarely go seven
    that's why the only pre-1980's pitcher listed is nolan ryan, which is a tribute to how incredible he was
    a lot harder to keep that k/ip ratio high when guys are seeing you for the 4th or 5th time

    The hope would be that playing for his hometown team would reignite something, leading to a career resurgence. It's possible I suppose, but is it worth the gamble?

    Cubs already shitting their pants over the Dodgers series on March 18-19 in Tokyo.

    Cubs pitchers & catchers are first to report to camp today. Dodgers report Tuesday. Full squads on Friday the 14th.

    Here comes another season. Where'd the time go?

    This is a fairly long yet interesting analysis of what led to Boston trading Mookie to LA and how it has impacted both teams.

    From the Dodgers perspective, he's accounted for 27.4 Wins Above Replacement in five seasons and contributed to two championships. In theory, Freeman would not have signed if Mookie wasn't on the roster. Ohtani wouldn't have signed if Mookie and Freddie weren't here. Yamamoto and certainly Sasaki wouldn't have signed without Shohei. And who knows about Glasnow, Snell, and Kim among others?

    All Boston has remaining, meanwhile, is an above average hitting/ below average fielding catcher (Conner Wong) and a mid-level pitching prospect that they got from the Yankees for Verdugo. Pretty crazy turn of events for both teams! This is turning out to be one of the most lopsided trades in baseball history. Dodgers gave up a catcher prospect that they definitely didn't need, Jeter Downs who's now playing in Japan, and Verdugo who is an okay talent but never was going to be a difference maker. Dodgers did also have to send a quality pitcher in Maeda to the Twins to make it work, but at this point that was a small price to pay in how the Mookie acquistion has impacted the team.
