Ryu and Hill don’t scare me too much cuz Dave is quick with the hook on them. Give us 4-5 innings of 1-2 run ball and play bullpen matchups. Kershaw will cost us a game of course though
Kershaw will give up five runs in the second and Dave will still send his bum ass out there for th third.
You can't underestimate the effect of the bright lights of the WS and what they can do to guys who have never been there before. It would be a new thing to basically every player on the Sox roster while the Dodgers and Astros only have a handful of guys each. That instantly would put the Dodgers at an advantage over the Sox, plus tack on the frustrations from a year ago and they could be a team with fire. There are more than a couple of Astros players who fucking HATE the Dodgers, plus us fans for the way we treated some of their players(rightfully so) and the idea of killing us probably gives that franchise a hard on. For me personally, I think the Dodgers/Sox would go 6-7 with it being more of a coin flip with the Dodgers having more of the advantage as the series progresses, while a Stros series going 5-6 with a much much smaller window for the Dodgers.
That is the thing though, a couple of guys are going to have to go deep into games or else our fairly ok bullpen will get exposed and basically only Buehler is the guy who could probably be ok with being seen a 3rd time through at this point(Ryu could be good too, but the Brewers made me feel less comfortable about that). We have been REALLY fortunate thus far in that our BP has mostly held it together, though only Jansen and Baez have been truly impressive. Ferguson is all over the place, Floro has lost velo, Alexander is gone and was piping FB's anyway, Wood has been terrible, Maeda's velo is down a full tick and hasn't been nearly as effective as last year. These are things that could be fine if they are used sparingly, but a series of short outings I feel would catch up to us really quick. IMO.
exactly where i'm at on the subject if we indeed end up facing houston its going to be equally painful to last year maybe more since we should have slain that monster but a monster it is rooting for bahstan idc
hate all things boston too but i am rooting for them for two reasons... 1. fuck houston 2. we have a better shot against the sox
I would rather not watch these two fucking teams and just beat the bastards that come to play us. BTW, fuck Boston...
I don't hate on Houston. I personally blame last year on Darvish/Kershaw and we got rid of one of those issues. "IF" Houston gets there then fine we need to slay that dragon. Boston I hate for a great many reasons.. including other sports. "F" the Celtics forever. Forever. So while not giving a shit about the Red Sox I'd prefer that they lose sooner rather than later because they led the league in wins, runs scored and BA and other shit so they are going to smack the ball on anyone. I think our odds are better.. if we hit the damned ball. That said I'll take either one so long as we get past the Brewers
This is a great post, but it's incomplete without adding "F" the Patriots and their cameras, forever, also.
Not sure if that is a power curve or slider from Morton, but he has thrown 2 since I tuned in that were just fucking filthy
I mean, I still think both these teams are better than us. I have said it before, the Astros murder LHP under 94 MPH which is a really bad match for us.
Red Sox have the issues with the pen, a potentially injured ace, another LH starter that struggles in big moments and two up & down starters in Porcello and Eovaldi. Oh and Manny murders the Red Sox starters Sale: .988 OPS 22 PA Price: 1.024 44 PA Porcello: .907 42 PA Eovaldi: .757 15 PA
