only watch a few minutes of nfl here and there if the game is close...lol chargers
Chargers just being the Chargers.
Rams were competitive for most of the game. Quite a difference for them having a healthy Stafford and a decent O line.
So ... old bastard that I is ... I taught my students about Gale Sayers today. His book, I Am Third is the basis for a journal prompt that I use.
Anyway, when I asked the kids (15 & 17 yrs old) to name great RBs, I got silence. Then I realized - running back has become a throw away position now. It's all QB, WR, and TE now.
So one kid says, 'Derrick Henry' ... ok. So I try to explain that Sayers was easily ten Henrys, and if not for injury (which today would have been easily repairable), Sayers would be a top 3 all timer.
I got an eye roll.
This is why I'm not long for education. First, Sayers was incredible. Second, in my day, teachers beat the shit out of kids for half that disrespect. And finally, wtf can you tell a teenager today who hasn't seen legit football yet? It's not their fault. We let them fuck this game up with "end racism" painted in end zones and two anthem bullshit.
Fuck it ... I'm old and I need a drink.
So .... dafuk is this shit?
The MSM & the Left are already trying to pry children from their parents, slicing balls off and attaching them to girls ... they fuck up everything fun or beautiful pretty much DAILY!
Now they gonna fuck up a football game by making kids see Toy Story on the gridiron?
Wonderful late night viewing Friday watching "Coach Prime's" Colorado Buffs gag away a 29-0 lead to Stanford.
S0 sick of the national media washing his balls.
Wonderful football weekend. Wins for the Bulldogs and Rams. Shit sandwiches fed to the 49ers, Colorado and USC.
I know ... I know ... I know ... Bobby Knight could be a real prick ... But other than John Wooden, I consider him the definitive basketball coach ever. With him dead ... Welp, era over.
Besides ... Every football and baseball coach I ever had was 5X meaner than he ever was. Getting called a pile of shit for missing a block or fumbling, or being made to endure a faceful of rage for finishing quads last ... That was typical. No crying to my Dad either.
Knight was a dinosaur but I liked him anyway. His tirades were hilarious to me.
Hope they bury him upside down
“When my time on earth is gone, and my activities here are passed, I want them to bury me upside down, and my critics can kiss my ass!”-Bob Knight in 1994
You beat me to it. Great quote.
You don't lay hands on players, but his good outweighed his bad.
The irony of Knight was he didn't apply the discipline he preached to his players to himself.
do as i say, not as i do
Spoken like Rube to a 3rd grader...
I found Bobby Knight entertaining, in the same way as Woody Hayes. They were so volatile and unpredictable, but great coaches nonetheless. They were also part of our youth. We grew up with them. Really hard to say goodbye — and not just because they were bigger than life, but their passing also makes us recognize our own mortality. RIP Mr. Knight. Thank you for the memories.
Well put. Yeah .... Obviously nobody gets out alive, but it doesn't help to be reminded when the heroes of our youth are checking out daily.
