    Dave is such a flat out scumbag. Earned it ? What for his past? Fuck that loser thinking Roberts, you imbecile.
    He hasn't earned shit with the Dodgers...far from it. He's sucked. Not to be trusted at all for any consistency.
    Whoever sucks on the Dodgers, either genuinely or temporarily, Dave Roberts is the leader for the loser mentality he yolks around this team's neck.
    He should guarantee that.
    Talent gets us the shot, year after year, and his lack of it results in what we've gotten at the end, year after year.
    The biggest payroll in the sport and we're a team without a bona fide closer.
    Are you fucking kidding?

    They had a closer. Front office let him get away in free agency.

    We can blame Kimbrel all we want for yesterday (and with good reason), but a lineup that produced nothing for 7 innings after the first two hitters of the game is equally culpable.

    Of course, no one can disagree with that. But if you get to the ninth ahead, it lies solely in the hands of the person who is paid to get three outs before a run scores. Not only did he not do that, AGAIN, but he gave up three.
    Sometimes, all you can get is one...sometimes the other side has good pitching, too...no matter how many chances we had. Nothing new.
    I guess if we don't score 5, we pretty much don't have a chance as long as Kimbrel is involved.

    Coulda been such a great series. Yes, 3 of 4 is still something I'd take any day, but we were set for a huge sweep and it fell apart in the end, and that's what's sticking with me this morning.

    jpl said it best. We cannot win a WS with this closer. Davey wants to be liked so will stick by him, but the front office needs to be looking at what's available and bringing in a better option. Kimbrel will occasionally have a 1-2-3 inning, which will give us all brief hope that he's rediscovered his past glory, but then will shit the bed in his next appearance. And this will only worsen in the playoffs. It's time for a plan B.

    Rivera was amazing but he also caused some serious heartbreak for Yankees fans. The Luis Gonzalez walk off in the WS and two blown games vs the Red Sox in their 3-0 comeback in the 2004 ALCS. I used to argue with a Yankees "friend" all the time that Gagne>Rivera. He of course got the last laugh when Gagne was busted but Manfred would applaud such behavior nowadays. The Asstros weak ass punishment for cheating proved that it's more than worth it to cheat because the small price is well worth it when you get to be world champions.

    I agree. I say inject the entire team with steroids. It'll even things out since we have to play with Dave Roberts as our manager.

    "Game Over" was an anomaly and we eventually found out why. Even the best closers will blow saves occasionally - that's just a fact. So we shouldn't expect perfection. But Kimbrel's ERA of almost 5.00 this far into the season is ridiculous... especially for a team with legitimate championship aspirations. And forget the numbers... just watching him pitch without clean innings instills basically zero confidence. I hate Davey's "he earned it" quote. If there was only one position for which "what have you done for me lately" rang true, it would be closer. And at this point in his career, Kimbrel is near or at the league bottom among closers.
