I was born in 1996 and English is my 2nd language.

 

The Viet Nam shit was insane. I had a high lottery number and maintained passing grades for 10 units in college (barely....I was a fuckup). Managed to avoid the Nam shit.

There are times when I feel a little guilty when I see guys who went through it and were never the same.

 

The lottery! I remember that shit...all based on pure chance, dictated by when your mom and dad decided to boink...absurdity at it's zenith. After my time...
When I got drafted, the day we got to the draft board, they said to a room full of draftees sitting in a classroom, me and my best friend included, "count off 1 through 10, row by row".
When it finished, some starched lifer sgt. came in and said," Ok...you guys that were 3 and 7 in the sound off count...get on the bus outside the building immediately - you're in the United States Marines...congratulations "!

I was 330 (out of 365 obviously). There would have had to had been a nuclear conflict for me to have been drafted.

I'm in a very safe place but I loaded my shotgun & I've got two boxes of cartridges, plus my revolver is at the ready. Everyone here here is locked & loaded - Dems and GOP alike.

Louisville is on edge. Lexington not so much but a little. Two cops on LMPD told me straight up to stay two counties away until next week at least. Either way, they expect trouble there.

Add Cincinnati & Columbus, too, and Indianapolis, Memphis, Nashville, & Chattanooga - all are on alert.

Good luck in LA, SF, & all the sanctuary cities on the left coast. You guys are on the tip of the spear out there.
