to me more of a poor man’s john mellencamp or george thorogood

I like Springsteen, but it's one of those things where I have to separate the art from the artist.
I'd never actually spend money on his music or see a concert as I don't want to give that pompus ass a single cent of my money.

I don't get thorogood either. I always though he was like a parody of real music.

kind of impossible to hate springsteen when that first album just came out of nowhere and had great music
from the title track to she's the one and backstreets it just had so much energy
if i was asked my favorite song by him its this by far

Saw Mellencamp with Willie Nelson and Dylan in 2009 at Fresno's AAA stadium. It was part of a minor league ballpark tour.

Willie came on first and was very good. Mellencamp was next and he was outstanding. You could tell he loved what he was doing. Dylan was last and he was awful. Lyrics were intelligible (as usual), but what was frustrating was that you couldn't decipher what song he was playing. I get you don't want them to sound like the albums, but you should be able to tell what song they're playing. We left three quarters of the way through the show. It was that bad. Even one of my friends who worships Dylan thought he stunk.

    Yeah. Dylan is a douche.

Rules of performance - Give the people a show. Don't be an asshole. Repeat.

    Perversion and rape.
    Give them lots of violence
    Plenty to hate.

They've always been my favorite oriented British Invasion band. Nothing against Beatles or Stones or Who or Zep. I just preferred the Kinks.

I saw them twice. Great showmen.

so last night i'm listening to Steely dan since i kind of always do and i'm playing this one song i loved from the day i heard it
literally the drum line alone reduces me to a misty eyed...ok i literally cry listening to it which isn't entirely unusual w the Dan
    caves of altamira
it was an alter ego of the spa at the lair and i have the blade sign hanging in my room
took my eldest to see the Royal scam in its entirety w Larry Carlton on guitar
literally left that show an emotional wreck and would have felt a complete douche if i had actually cared

here's a bit of the story behind the caves in Spain as i'm sure some of you already know about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_of_Altamira
anyway i'm watching the video when up pops the image

fairly intense on its own since its likely 28k years old, but my ex had just presented it to me as a piece she wanted hung at the school because it reminded her of the children
its stupid coincidence and means nothing except it means everything to me
no prize or remarkable change other than a confirmation that i'm where i'm supposed to be
i can't stop looking at the image and i'm still pretty much flattened for the experience
probably took me an hour or more to make this post
not sure quite how to express how crazy it feels right now

Never had the privilege of seeing the Kinks, although I've seen Ray (twice) and Dave (once) solo. Shame they couldn't get along.

knew the guy singing was gay on first listen but it was good no one can really deny it so who gives a fuck?
and yet picking up the album and looking at age of consent...nah
if your human and not in denial smalltown boy hit you in the gut , at least it did me, cause i lived that shit
i saw boys get their asses kicked in school and knew it wasn't right but didn't do anything about it either
    file under humans suck

80's were definitely a case of life imitating art (music)
    or vice versa
using your example of not sticking up for kids...
a lot were afraid to publicly admit they liked bands like bronski beat, culture club, wham, etc
and yet often the music was really good
take it back even further, a lot of people scoffed at bowie and iggy so...
