so apparently henley is going to take his paid musicians act out on the road one more time and rake in the cash
won't repeat what i've written about meeting Felder and what a pos i think henley/frey are but had something obvious pointed out that i'd somehow missed
Steely dan is going to open for them and the band once wrote "turn up the eagles the neighbors are listening" in the song everything you did which i love
apparently the eagles returned the shot w "they stab it w their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast"
what an incredible line and shot at the acerbic and irreverent Dan band!
most people give at least some, if not a lot, of credit to SD for bringing the peace and love culture to an end in the early 70s
never occurred to me the hotel Cali boys had that in em!

 

Going to be in Tahoe for a convention later this month for the last date of Neil Young's current tour. Set lists I've seen include mostly his newer stuff. Not sure I want hear the new stuff. Much prefer his solo, Crazy Horse or Buffalo Springfield catalogs. Probably should bite the bullet and go since we're staying at the same hotel as the concert venue (Harvey's).

so it's a bit of a stretch to go from Neil to George and WHAM! but the netflix special is a really good watch
lots of love and respect for the work George left behind especially as a solo artist but the documentary of his rise w Andrew Ridgely and their friendship is awesome
i remember their music coming out in the clubs and the girls loved it and wanted to dance to it so there were the videos
i thought they were two bubblegum gay dudes that would fade away but toward the end of their four years together you could hear something more
"i ain't got no more worries, i ain't got no more time for you" love that

for trite dance tunes they had a pretty good band and songs like careless whisper were undeniable in their greatness
i mean, careless is and was a masterpiece and they wrote it at 18!
i was definitely one of those people calling Andrew the luckiest guy in the world to ride George's coat tails and his story especially surprised me
don't ever recall seeing a more amicable and graceful (his word) breakup of a wildly successful band
he was actually the smart one as George chased the very thing that would destroy him ultimately
if you like that i highly recommend Freedom that has some of the last footage of GM's solo career and life
caught it on a plane and its truly a great tribute to a troubled and misunderstood genius w a voice for the ages

 

was more praising GM and his beginning w his best friend
its a great story i had never heard
wham was just a silly little thing and two guys goofing off that turned into something else
was never a fan but they made some fun dance music so i have good memories of that place in time
imo GM ending up being one of the greatest voices of our time but that's another story
