Yeah. GE Smith is vastly underrated.

Good intel between Diablo and Irish. You two homos should write for Rolling Stone.

if only we could go back to 1982…
diablo and i could have been the harvey weinsteins of the music industry, and you could have gotten a gig at mcmartin preschool
of course we could have also invested in (then) also-ran companies like apple and nike
    if only

I'm more Dahmer style than McMartin pre ... I prefer my meat dark and lightly charred.

Thanks, bro. It took until almost March for you to alter one of my posts to punch up my sodomy.

For a few weeks, I thought we weren't pals no more.

It's just his take on Steve Miller's old jam. It isn't my favorite Lindley song though.

I'll say this. I worked the Imperial Ball in Anaheim for five years straight. I worked stage door security. Met Alice Cooper, Stephen Stills, Mike Campbell and a bunch of the support guys behind the Hollywood Vampires. Never even said hello to Johnny Depp. He's a shit guitarist.

But I struck up a bunch of convos three years running with Terry Reid. And when he asked me who my favorite guitarist was, I told him Lindley. And he agreed. Said there's many as good, but damn few better. His exact words.

I get it. He sits and plays. But his virtuosity is legendary. And he plays stringed instruments that 99% of famous rockers couldn't even play a chord on. He was a master on the lute & theorbo. That's a crazy ass guitar. It's a bitch to play, let alone master.

Anyway. I loved the guy musically and personally. He was a good person too. I'm glad I have 20 hours of his music on disc and my hard drive. And when I die, his music will play at my wake alongside Skynyrd, Merle Haggard, Tom Waits, SRV, & Tommy Emmanuel.

And maybe some Arctic Monkeys. For Diablo.

    And Nickelback. For Irish. [/homo]

nickelback is to the 90’s/00’s what kajagoogoo was to the 80’s
but with less talent (wouldn’t have thought that possible)
    and worse hair
    plus they’re canadian
talk about a trifecta of doom…

Can't say this with certainty, but a bassist I know who LOATHED all things 80s (including Kajagoogoo) once told me that band's bassist was nails.

But yeah .... The music was pure shite. Ditto Right Said Fred and that ilk.

A high school classmate operated a restaurant/concert venue near us which seated about 150. He was a session musician for years so had some contacts in the music business. Saw some incredible shows there including Johnny Winter, Dave Mason, Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Johnson, Gary Hoey, Leslie West, Les Dudek and Eric Sardinas.

Always got choice seats and the food wasn't bad, either. Shame it closed and a bigger shame that the fucking cancer got my classmate.

Sad and sadder to be sure.

I've seen Sardinas several times at Perqs in HB. Walter Trout a mess of times there too.

What was your friend's place named? Maybe I was there once.
