i don't care if he and kazmir throw perfect games
neither of those scrubs should be on our postseason roster

Agreed. Was just thinking about how much of an improvement it'll be to have Kenta as our playoff #3 this year instead of that POS Anderson.

I know nobody wants to hear it... but I still have some hope for Kazmir, he's recent track record says he's a good #4 starter, I know he's had kind of a bad year, but I still have *some* hope. We'll see...

Anderson can get hit by a bus

He certainly is good at getting hit.

i was optimistic when we signed him
but he's too unstable/inconsistent to ride in the postseason imo
kersh/hill/maeda are obviously our #1-3 shoe ins
with the breaks between games in the postseason do we even need a #4?
if so, i'd much rather hand the ball to jdl
but i'm excited about our pen possibilities
    wood, urias, baez, blanton, kenley
then you have liberatore, avilan, dayton, stripling, chavez, stewart, ravin and fields to fill the last couple spots
but howell, coleman, kaz, anderson should be left off imo

But unless Reddick or Toles are gone where is he going to play?
Even as a backup he sticks out because he cant hit lefties well which is what the team needs from a backup.
So he doesnt seem to have a role going forward.
    We cant carry 6 OF.
At this point Howie is a better all around option as the veteran backup OF since he can be useful in the IF too.
Toles deserves to be the main backup OF if he doesnt get a shot at the starting job in LF.
Puig is still a really good player to have on your squad and should be the starting RF if we lose Reddick, if not he also serves a needed role since he has power vs lefties.
    Ethier has no role.
And then there is Trayce who should come back and platoon with Joc in CF.
Then soon the kids will start coming up.
It may be time to part with Ethier someway.

Wow....Anderson followed by Kazmir? What the fuck for? Are we trying to make the last few weeks dramatic?

On another note, does anyone think Vin decided not to announce post season games because the Dodgers might break his heart? I know he said this was his last year in the beginning, but the news that he would not do any post season work was recent.

God.....I truly hope that these current Dodgers understand how important Vin has been for the entire sport of baseball.

Chick Hearn at least saw multiple recent championships before he passed. I reallg want Vin to see his team win one for him in this last year.

Oh, I agree. But I'm happy for that shit to be a 2017 problem. Basically sick of seeing the guy fluffing around out there.

Forgot about Trayce. Wonder if our lefty problems would still be this bad if he was still around?

This series is not going to be a walk in the park so I agree auditioning Anderson and Kazmir during this time is really really risky. I'm just glad at least that 3 of the Rockies starters are right handed which will be less stressful at least in my mind. I'm hoping those new players that the Padres are bringing up continues the trend of call-ups doing really well and surprise the crap out of the Gnats!!

As for this talk about our 2017 OF depth chart I think it will be thinned out and different next year. SVS or Dre, Toles, Thompson, Joc, Yasiel are my predictions. Segedin/Kike/Howie are infielders who have played OF so that helps with versatility but I think Howie will be our starter at 2nd next year, Kike fills the super utility role along with Segedin. IF he keeps on rising and keeps developing I can see Bellinger really knocking on the door.

Perhaps, but it looked like with more ABs he was starting to get exposed.

I think this is Vin being his humble self. I don't think he's that invested emotionally in the team.

He doesn't want the postseason to be about him. It's about the Dodgers.

I think the Dodgers go with a 4-man rotation in the playoffs.

For the 3-man rotation to work, someone needs to pitch on short rest, and with Kershaw's injury I don't think they'll ask him to do that this year.

I have no idea what will happen with 4th starter

Choosing between Kazmir/Anderson/McCarthy based off 1/2 starts at the end is dangerous

I wouldn't say I feel fully confident with JDL/Brock going though

The Nationals are better against lefties then righties though. It also might be some strategic advantage to start a lefty and have a righty reliever (like Ross?) come in soon after if you think they start a lineup that changes based off the starting pitcher

Idk, I can't see a decision I'd feel good with which means I guess I'm mostly fine with whichever way they go

I understand throwing 4 lefties at the Rockies. They are a lot like the Dodgers in that a big core of their line up hits LH. Parra, Blackmon, Cargo, Dahl and Tapia are all guys getting regular AB's right now and even Arenado struggles more against LHP over RHP. Hopefully throwing 2 crappier LH's before 2 great LH's fuck with the Rockies and we can pull the 4 game sweep. It won't be easy as Grey has been great, while both Bettis and Chatwood can be good on the road.

If the Dodgers had lost yesterday, and the lead was only four (with still 3 to play vs Gnats), then perhaps we'd see the starters set up differently and Anderson and Kazmir wouldn't both be in the mix for this series. However, with a six game lead, I can't see this as being risky. Unless you think we still have a legitimate chance of catching WAS for home field, which in my opinion is not likely.
