It's hilarious how this organization wants to sell Kike as a versatile player who we need. He sucks at every position he plays. Sure, he has a lot of extra-base hits against left-handed pitching this year. Big deal. He swings out of his ass and connects every once in awhile . Turner, Ballinger, and Seager all hit left-handed pitching. That's why we've improved this year. Not Hernandez being less terrible than last year. We already won the trade with Barnes. Why it takes so long to get rid of Hatcher and Hernandez is beyond me. They are garbage.
Zach Cozart would look good in this offense at SS so Seager can move to a position where he is more comfortable as his body matures. Chris Taylor can play SS as well and they both hit lefties and play other positions so between them you are set in the middle infield insurance dept and dont need a Kike around unless you need a mascot in the dugout. Seager can become a LF, 1B, 3B. A 2B would be more of a stretch but if possible it would make things ideal. If Seager could play a good 2B then everyone else could stay where they are. Taylor or a FA like Cozart takes SS. If we get a FA then Taylor stays in CF or LF, catcher being Barnes in the near future, and with Puig locked in RF we need only 1 more hole to fill with a guy who can perform at a consistent level. Next year the contenders look to be Joc, Toles, and Verdugo for that one spot in LF/CF alongside Taylor and Puig. So it is either we sign or trade for another Chris Taylor type hitter that is a good IF or we block any future for Joc, Toles or Verdugo. Or any other OF who is ready to come up next year by signing another OF. Ethier and Grandy will be gone and who knows what will happen with Adrian because he is still on the books. Logan and Utley should be gone too next year too. So consolidate all that money on a guy like Cozart. And if none of those prospects in the OF like Verdugo or Joc pan out then consolidate them and a bunch of other prospects and go get Mike Stanton. That should be the plan for the offense for next year no matter what happens in the playoffs. Joc, Toles, Verdugo and any future OF prospect should be looking to become the next 4OF for the Dodgers and be ready in case somebody gets hurt or has a bad couple months.
