Clayton Kershaw is the 1st yes 1st pitcher in major league HISTORY to have 13 K's in a complete game with less than 100 pitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forsythe being the hitter we expected at the beginning of the season has been and will be huge. Spraying hard line drives all over the field is important in a lineup with Joc, Grandal, and Puig in it. He's a guy that can come up big in the post season if he's hot.
I enjoyed those 3 games so much. Hotter than hell and I may have stood in the concourse for half of today's game, but still fun
We should trade with this team. They have the type of players the Dodgers burn some overhyped middle of the road prospects for. Mike Minor is perfectly our type. He is a former starter who shut it down for two years with arm trouble to now come back with a faster livelier ball as a reliever. Jason Vargas is an older guy having an all star career year like Hill was when we got him. We could slot him in behind Hill to have a solid rotation of Kershaw, Wood, Hill, Vargas, and MehCarthy. And adding Mike Minor, Maeda, and Ryu to the bullpen will make it stronger. Brock Stewart too. Dodgers would not have to trade any of the top prospects. And the Royals might be willing to deal for controllable low cost guys with some promise like Toles and Trayce. We have a lot of good catchers in the minors as well as starting pitching that we can trade. Next year most of their team are free agents and will likely be offered big deals elsewhere. The offense is fine. There are enough hitters coming in hot from the minor leagues that can help us down the stretch and into the playoffs. And if something is needed there will be plenty of extra pieces that can help for cheap. vs righties LF: Taylor SS: Seager 3B: Turner 1B: Bellinger C : Grandal RF: Puig 2B: Forsythe CF: Joc vs lefties LF: Taylor SS: Seager 3B: Turner 1B: Bellinger 2B: Forsythe C : Barnes RF: Puig CF: Joc Bench: Barnes, Gonzales, Utley for the IF and two out of Ethier, Kike, or Verdugo for the OF. And if Gonzales des not make it back then we may see Calhoun up here too.
Forsythe's OBP is .369 which is 40 points over his career average so while the misses aren't ideal he's still getting on base.
his slugging is 44 points less while his k rate is way up we'll take the walks, but that's not what he was brought here to do feel bad for the dude... got injured almost immediately then was clearly pressing hopefully he'll get straightened out
Since he's been leadoff practically the entire year it's his purpose to get on ahead of Corey and JT so in that context he's doing his job.
slugging is his least valued skill if he takes some off of that but improves more elsewhere then that is a good thing specially if he is getting on base vs righties at a high clip and scorching lefties with the bat. imo this is the approach i think Joc should take. against righties become selective and try to get walks or wait for a mistake and go yard. feast or famine with decent SLG, high OBP, low AVG. but against lefties try to get as many line drives as possible, rack up hits. decent AVG, decent OBP, high SLG.
