Is anyone actually interested in my updated payroll spreadsheet to discuss or look at? I have included Kershaw and the years 2018, 2019, and 2020. Truthfully, if I am throwing pearls before swine, I would rather just a small discussion without a long diatribe that won't get read.

There are some interesting things on it. There is an obvious trend. I think Kasten and Company's plan is pretty apparent when a longview is taken. Let me know.

    Dood, put it out there.

If they read, they read. If they don't, fuck'em.

i'd like to take a look at it
although i'm not sure it matters to guggenheim...
    • The Dodgers will continue to set the pace on future spending. But that spending level is backed up by an unmatched $340MM local TV revenue stream.

"We're still, first and foremost, concerned with the quality of the team we can put together, and adding it up comes second," said president Stan Kasten. "This is a long-term strategy of ours. After five or six or seven years, it will make a lot more sense than it does to people looking at today's snapshot."

First, I am not saying that I know the whole "plan". However, I do think I have a much better idea after looking at how we are spending our money for the next seven years. When it is looked at from an economic AND analytical point of view, there is an obvious trend and plan working currently. As soon as Irish gets it up, you will understand. For the time being I have added the following: I am not sure what features are allowable. But, it does give you a general sense.

The Tanaka question becomes a glaring one. Does Greinke opt out? I have to believe he does if he continues what he has been for us. At that point, we slot up and look very different.

Below is the amount of payroll with the number of guaranteed contracts beside it in italics and bold.
    2014: 263,525,000 2015: $166,647,000 (13) 2016: $159,297,000 (9) 2017: $160,547,000 (9) 2018: $141,547,000 (7) 2019: $53,500,000 (2) 2020: $33,000,000 (1)

There are a few caveats, such as options. I make the assumption that if they are picked up, they are performing quite well. I am just going on a limb here and assuming that Ethier is not picked up. I did include all of Greinke and Kershaw's post opt out years though I believe Greinke will opt out.

I know there are those on here who have a great knowledge of our minors. I would love to hear what is coming and what their nonbiased upsides are. I am thinking of creating a spreadsheet that also includes ETAs and where they slot. Yeah, I am that big of a dork.

Is that all the dead cash there is? We've finally taken Manny off the books? We're totally paid off after 2014?

Sorry my southern brother, didn't mean to piss in the proverbial cornflakes. Cot's is a great site, I've used it for years, it's been absorbed by Baseball Prospectus.

Don't look at it as wasted time, think of it as familiarizing yourself with the details that most of us won't be able to recall tomorrow. Right now I bet you have a better working knowledge of the contracts than 95% of the posters here, and 99% of the fan base as a whole.

I do appreciate the sentiments. Though I know that was some serious bullshit, it did make me feel better. I guess I know how that bitch in the bar feels when I tell her she is the hottest thing I have seen.

I will say Cot's is nice. I was not aware of this feature... I have never bought BP, I am considering.

I've never bought it either, I just use the info at Cot's as a reference when I need it.

Looking at that it's clear CC needs to hit the bricks.
