never will forget that day my friend
one of the most profound and intense things i ever read on the internet
it was my greatest fear as a young man to lose my mother
it still makes me emotional to remember that day because my heart suffered for you and we had never met
some things just transcend words and its just not possible to quantify the impact
in that way it makes you as much a part of my family and my world as any other because that moment lives in me too
    im a TB15 superfan lol

Most of my Thanksgiving memories are those of a houseful of relatives, almost all of whom got along famously. Those had differences had the decency to keep them to themselves for the day.

Mom's stuffing was legendary. Thankfully one of my sisters has the recipe down pat. Looking forward to walking into the house and getting a whiff of it.

All of the previous generation is gone, so I'm the elder statesman, except I don't see myself that way. I think I'm still the uncle who used to ask the nephews to pull my finger.

One Thanksgiving memory I can't shake is my wife walking her cancer ravaged brother out to his car after dinner. He was 6-4, 215 in his prime and played a couple of years for the Broncos. At that Thanksgiving, he wasn't much bigger than my 105 lb wife. We lost him that Jan 2 at the age of 34.

Fuck cancer and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

you aren't prying and i have no issue sharing and hope it doesn't sound like selfish whining
apologies to @Finski cause you started this thread on a positive note like it should be
but i'm guessing you probably knew where it would end up eventually right?
    where's Ruven btw lol
so we have this big table where we used to fit almost everyone at my moms house
and it had some potential a lot of years with a lot of laughter and just generally good times until someone said/did something that brought on group scorn
many times that was me or thats how it seemed
i'd get high as fuck before i'd walk in to those gatherings since it seemed like all the "successful" people were up my ass about my life
i was supposed to be a fireman or a city worker or basically just get w the program
i never wanted that life and so i was always looked at like i wasted my time and my life by the people who gathered as my family
ff to today and i think its become a major topic of conversation to the point of which they just can't contain themselves anymore
how is it this motherfucker is still moving forward on self will and who is he fucking? oh my god you can't be serious!
i've got my share of realities to deal w but for the most part i get to choose what my day is going to look like outside of the fires and those just go w being alive
in their eyes i have no structure and the fact that i've had any success at all just flies in the face of what life is supposed to be
Cap'n and my brother are really close and i know they smile and shake their heads at me since forever but thats about it
the rest of them think i need an intervention and should have a totally different subset of morals implemented
i don't share much of anything in reality w them anymore
i just wish them happiness like i do all people and when its too much i try to ignore it
i really do love my family and while i won't be around this year its not like i'm not in their lives everyday cause i exist at the center of the family universe
i just wish they could love me back and not judge my path since its my path and not theirs
that seems to be my situation
its pretty painful to have a stranger tell you that your family warned them about you like you're some kind of disease
i will forgive and move on because what choice do any of us have?
hold on to it and let it eat us alive from the inside out?
    no thanks
    did we ink banuelos yet???

Happy Thanksgiving guys. Over the years this has become a home for disfunctional Dodger fans. We talk shit to each other like family and suffer the Dodger losses together like brothers. If outsiders were to roll into a gamethread they would be like WTF?

Cheers to my fellow Dodger brothers. I'll eat, drink and smoke to you all today!

@LAdiablo ... my brother, I knew it might get dark, but dark is part of it, yes? I think it's clear that you and I have a link that exceeds the Dodgers connection (probably homo)

Yesterday went well. I drank far too much, and my pregnant wife had to finish clearing the kitchen because I passed out putting our older girl to bed. Not a bad thing, but I woke up at 11PM and finished what was left to do, and apologized to her. She wasn't upset, as I'd been rolling since 6AM that morning, painting the back fence while readying for guests. Somehow, I lost five pounds since Monday. Weird ...

Strangest part of yesterday was my dad-in-law, who I love very much and it's mutual, causing me to cut myself badly during the turkey carving. He thought that shouting in my ear while I was separating the carcass would be funny. It surprised me and I flinched ... and I punctured the palm of my left hand deeply, but with my sharpest knife, which made it a clean wound. Fucking pain like I hadn't felt in a great while

Blood on the floor, and I think I said FUCK so loudly that Fresno heard it. The wife's cousin is an RN, and she moved in like a tornado, and she had me gauzed up and nearly new inside of 10 minutes. Needless to say, my wife's dad was apologetic, and I was pretty pissed at him, but I drank so much over the next few hours that I didn't care much by dessert ... and then I put the girl to bed, passed out, and that brings me back to where I started this post.

Hope the rest of you have a good weekend. I have loads of essays to grade, but if I can keep away from the bar until I get those done, I may actually get to watch a football game this weekend.

    Peace, everyone.

Ate it before I took a picture, @TAFNAC ... but that was great. Smothered it in turkey gravy. Pretty sure I'm gaining those five pounds back today ...

For a lot of reasons (none homo, of course), I hope you're right-handed.

was going to grab the girl and head to SD and i still might idk
no hangover and its a gorgeous day out so there's that
actually what more can you ask for?
and if my father in law had done that to me the thought of stabbing him in the gut would certainly have crossed my mind

    permanent sobriety...
if ever there were an oxymoron
permanent just means until the next time...
    like rube being permanently non-pedo
    or mouse being permanently heterosexual
    or me being permanently sane...
