IMO, the last sentence is brilliance in meaning and composition.
In that, it illustrates why who gets the CY is almost irrelevant. Like that stupid HR Derby many get erect from...In the day of the stat geek and SABRmatics, all the drooling makes no sense.
If he doesn't get it, it will mean nothing in the future...his name will always come up when speaking of greatness, years from now.
    That's what really counts.

Grainkey is the MVP of this team.

It is his award to lose and the fact that said in spring he'd give Clayton a run for his money makes his season epic.

Right irish, right now I'm sure all the writers are thinking "Hey, let's give the Cy to who ever has the lowest WHIP after the All Star game!"

If Greinke doesn't win it will be a travesty. Especially if they give it to that Areola scrub on the Cubs.

If CK ends up with like 100 more strikeouts than Greinke...I mean damn. I think I have to lean toward splitting the award down the middle at that point. I know that's an arbitrary number, but goddamn CK's FIP is stupid.

Good to see that Greinke has a legitimite shot at 20 wins. The CY is still his to lose.

kersh's number are impressive, no doubt
and he's been nearly unhittable in the 2nd half
but zack has been a stud all season
he will win the cy young

    3. THE ZACK ATTACK

So many awesome Zack Greinke feats are underway that we’ll just have to save some of them for next week’s awards column. Has anyone noticed, for instance, that this man has a lower WHIP (0.848) than Bob Gibson had in 1968 (0.853) -- or that he’s in line to rank in the top four WHIPs in the entire live ball era, behind only Pedro Martinez (0.737 in 2000), Greg Maddux (0.811 in 1995) and Dave McNally (0.842 in 1968)? Well, now you have.

But here’s an even more entertaining feat: Zack Greinke the hitter has more extra-base hits this season (four) than Zack Greinke the pitcher has losses (three). And here’s why that’s so cool: Only nine pitchers since 1900 have finished a season with at least 30 starts and no more than three losses. Just one of them had as many extra-base hits as losses -- fellow do-it-all Dodgers great Orel Hershiser in 1985 (19-3, with 3 XBH). But MORE extra-base hits than losses? Never been done. Not in a season in which a guy was as unbeatable as Greinke has been. I love this item, for reasons known only to my demented brain.

And how about that string of 9 games where zero happened? Or maybe a loss...IDK. That sucked, and he'd be over 20 right now...Kufu/Newk territory.

And yet all the ESPN hacks are lavishing praise upon Arrieta after his 1 hitter yesterday gives him 21 wins.. declaring him the Cy Young winner in advance and speaking like Zack's simply a "unique character"

Now I think that Arrieta has had a great year and I don't mind the Cubbie's making the playoffs but Zach is setting records of his own which apparently mean little to the eastern US biased ESPN types

    saw that
funny too because they cite his strong 2nd half...
yet somehow ignore that clayton's 2nd half is even better
and that zack's entire season is better

I'll be pissed if he wins because Greinke is not getting enough credit. I hope that ZG can through a CG or a no-hitter as one of his last games to lock this up. It would be a shame if he didn't win it. At this point, I hope CK gets no votes so Greinke can get it all.

But Chicago is not the east. It's certainly not the west, but definitely not NY/Boston...it may come down to the old W/L shit- God forbid!
Their numbers are pretty damn close indeed, so you never know...

Well Clayton sure raised the stakes by matching Arrieta's CG 1 hitter

Let's see if the hacks notice

I love Greinke, but CK has 100 more Ks than he does. That's ridiculous. Lol It's impossible to ignore CK's advantage in FIP. I'm glad I don't have a Cy vote. There's no way that I could vote one over the other. Just give it to Arrieta. Fuckit
