Spot on, Rube. I couldn't say it better than that. It's going to be sad when this team bottoms out, but it'll take that to clean out this swamp out.
“I think it’s one of those things where CT was ready to come back, and you’re trying to appreciate the fact that he’s not hurt anymore. He’s ready to come back, and that was kind of the driver of (deciding to release Jason Heyward).” - Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts
The longer this goes on, the more I realize that Dave is a person who really can't help his inadequacies, and will repeat making the same mistakes relentlessly. As constant as Polaris. Rather, it is touted as bb great minds like Andrew F. who are to blame for Roberts' ongoing failing tenure for 9 years as LA Dodgers manager. Sorry, except for the Plague thing. It's really up to them. Different, much different priorities than we fans. They are in a win- win situation, for themselves. Even signing and spending for Ohtani and Yamamoto is blessed for them. If the WS championship resulted, it would be the cherry on top, a pleasant outcome to them being Dodgers. But spending that money, is totally justified without a WS victory, ever, ( from their viewpoint ) just for the revenue streams surrounding Ohtani alone. Worth the outlay, any day, and twice on Sunday. And little Davey plays their marionette role perfectly... you have to give him that. Addressing Rube's premise in a previous post about " draining the swamp" it's never going to happen. Imo. Just like the good 'ol USA, in which the same idea had started, it was nipped astoundingly in the bud in 2020, and now it's worse than ever. Maximum worst. Dave may break Alston's record eventually. Long as Andy and this particular FO around.
This is a detailed blog here --> https://www.truebluela.com/2023/5/6...'s when Alston stood up,old Alston one on one. But we all know it anyway. But Scarecrow would NEVER pull an Alston and square up with his players - NOT just because Dave is a different type of manager - but because he's a weak man in general. As a player, he never was the scrappy type or the aggressive type. Guys like Bowa, Rose, Lopes, Dick Allen, and even Stargell - they were all types of introverts or extroverts ... but in the end, they competed fiercely. hey never backed down to anybody ever. Roberts was a capable utility guy with speed. That was it. Then he was a decent bench coach. He could teach the steal and the small ball elements. And he's pleasant, so he off-set the tough guy managers out there (good cop/bad cop stuff). But as a skipper, he's born to lose, because he's surrounded himself with yes-men and like-minded softies, and that's a recipe for failure for sure. Now, he's a DEI keeper, and LA will stick with him ... unless the team fails to make the playoffs ... maybe then they'd fire him. Maybe... But here's the scary part - what if they replace him ... with a worse DEI hire? Like ... a female manager? A gay one at that ... you just KNOW Billie Jean King is gonna talk that option up. Careful what we wish for, boyos...
Well, I'll tell you...King being a woman is 568 th on my list of DGAF priorities, just like animal rights are for you, as you previously posted. She was a very good athlete herself, in spite of looking like a bag of prunes.now. And she just may be savvy enough with sports common sense ( which Roberts lacks very often) and know as much as Roberts does any day. If she can take this superstar/superpayro!l roster and take it to a championship, I'm all for it. I sure don't care whose pussy she licks, that's for sure. And considering the LGBTQ nights, Gay Pride, Fag Festivals, and all the other woke scumbag affairs they've gigged out at Chavez Ravine, a female lesbian manager is right in line with the present LA Dodgers. Why it'll join with the historic Dodger innovations like Jackie and moving from Brooklyn ! Anyway, we all need to get used to a woman in charge, I fear. Oh yeah. Pretty soon something wicked this way comes, and the people of this country won't do shit about it. It's King to get the ring !
I should go on the "Movies" thread on put this on it. How could I leave it out ? History of the World flat out one of the funniest movies of my lifetime... Hump or death.
Davey gonna screw the pooch again managing this pen in the playoffs. Also will pinch hit Chris Taylor. Mark this post and book it.
broken record but imo the problem with this team is leadership or more specifically lack thereof roberts had no idea what he was doing in 2017 and 2018 but at least he stayed out of the way 2020 was a fluke shortened season and in retrospect probably the worst thing that could have happened in roberts mind (oxymoron) it validated his value/competence/capability as a manager and now he is 100% in the way a talented team can fall short here or there, but not with the immense talent this organization has has assembled year after year winning the world series may be a crapshoot, but stumbling into the postseason every october is no coincidence a competent manager would have had this team motivated and, more importantly, had the team’s respect for no one is going to respect a guy who clearly would rather be their friend than their boss or disciplinarian he’s like a parent who doesn’t enforce discipline the players like him because there is no accountability unfortunately, without consequence the desire to succeed is minimal i’ll say it again… this team will go nowhere with roberts at the helm ~ end of rant (for now)
disagree w him getting out of the way in 17 and 18 completely mismanaged the pen and pulled Hill in both years when he was pitching very well insisting on going to the pen early went time and again to guys who screwed the pooch including his refusal to pull darvish in game 7 until the game was 5-oh in the second will never forget that same lost look as he continues to give when shit blows up in his face was at the longest game in 18 and was sure the next day i was watching us tie the series until dave happens he's going to fall flat on his face again this year but of course it will be the injuries and he'll probably ink the largest manager contract in history cause DEI good
yeah was rambling meant he stayed out of the way enough for them to get to the ws but in truth he's always in the way darvish, dick mountain, scherzer...
