Great news. Hopefully SF takes Ned back and he becomes their problem... again.

So in reality Theo Epstein is the GM and Hoyer is the Assistant GM, the titles are just changed for fun?

If Friedman is running the show, then it sounds like our new "GM" will be more in the role of negotiating contracts, handling arbitration cases, etc... It sounds like Kim Ng's old job.

Mattingly's gonna have to fight the Maddon rumors allllllllll year. Lol what fun..

they may as well send Chris Anderson on over to the Rays for Maddon right now and get it over with so everybody can move on

Maddon, if he wants to play hardball, suddenly has HUGE leverage in contract negotiations..negotiations with Tampa that will probably take place this winter..if he allows them to. if he doesn't..Tampa has to start looking for compensation because the connection with Friedman is there and the money will definitely be there and they could lose him and get nothing in return.

gotta tell ya..i really wouldn't be shocked if Friedman moved AGon. we all know he's looked at the outfield situation and saw how easily SVS's potential and value at the plate could get lost if they end up with 3 everyday outfielders next year. and really, SVS isn't an everyday outfielder anyway, but it's his bat that could play everyday @ 1st base. AGon still has enough value from a production standpoint that he could get multiple quality pieces in return, but i'm sure Friedman's also recognized AGon's declining AVG/OBP because of teams shifting more now defensively. it could be seen as the perfect time to duck out of AGon's contract.

once upon a time, Theo Epstein loved him some AGon..just sayin..Friedman might have a trade partner in Chicago because Theo's looking to start getting some wins now and AGone can help them. one of Baez, Starlin Castro or Addy Russell might be available for us and i'll take any one of them as a replacement for Hanley next year. even if Addy Russell isn't quite ready next year..put him in the minors with Seager for 1 year and let them grow together, with Seager moving to 3B..and KABOOM..Seager and Russell become our starting left side of the infield in 2016.

so many possibilities because we have a lot of talented pieces. i mean..what if Friedman paired AGon and Crawford together and shipped them out together ( adding a 20-30M in cash for Crawford's contract)? Ha! that shit would be hilarious..especially if Epstein wanted to get both of them again to add some productive veteran presence. both teams could benefit.

The doom and gloom comes from my age and the recent (26 yearss ?) history of the team...I've dealt with Dodger mediocrity for a long, long time. I'm not saying being old or older gives me a better look in at the team, but I grew up with and was full swing with Dodger glory, which let's face it, has been gone for a long time. Individually we have prospered, but as a team, not exactly so great.
I actually heard Rosenthat say yesterddat that "this was a surprise...considering Colletti's successful time as Dodger GM" . This tripe is what I'm talking about...being "elite" and getting to the playoffs a whole bunch of times, and failing in every single one of them is not success....by any means...to me that is. Who wants the "close but no cigar" onicker around their neck? I'd rather have been in it only once, but won it like champs. If you study Dodger history, this is what we were and how we got to be (not used anymore, however), 'Dem Bums".
So , I take this kid Friedman as a new beginning, although in my heart, as Chris posted when his scout friend told him, "Mattingly is in over his head". man I so agree...we need a clean sweep...and if it's yet to come....like after another bridesmaid BS thing next October, that is counterproductive. But I'll take it. You're a relatively new memeber here; I've been calling for ned to be exorcised to Timbuktu for years...and it finally has happened. So I'm believing all the good shit I've read about Kasten, but don't pretend to be an expert on him.
But the wind has changed, and I'm looking for a clear route, straight and true, to the promised land.
    It's about time.

Before people get to Giddy about the the thoughts of Maddon coming on board:

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/rays-ponder-life-without-andrew-friedman.html
When asked if he fears Friedman taking other Rays employees with him to L.A., Sternberg referred back to the level of trust that they share. Whether it’s through a handshake or just a tacit understanding, both Sternberg and Silverman expressed confidence that Friedman won’t poach anyone from Tampa Bay. That extends to manager Joe Maddon who told the owner that he wants to stay on board despite Friedman’s departure. “I don’t expect anyone to be joining him in L.A.,” Sternberg flatly stated. Reading between the lines, it appears that the owner doesn’t have poaching protection in writing. If that’s the case, he doesn’t sound the least bit concerned about it.

i don't know why that'd be called poaching. to me it'd be doing his job and securing the best manager possible for his team. he no longer works for Tampa, so there's no looking out for them anymore. there's a way to stop Maddon from leaving for a better job in LA..sign him this off-season and be done with it. i mean it's like Maddon himself said, "I want to continue to be a Ray, absolutely," Maddon told The Los Angeles Times. "They have to want me to be a Ray, too."

i don't pretend to be an expert about any other grown man. i just have expectations due to Kasten's resume..same goes with Friedman. you gotta believe that they can make it happen with unlimited resources.

Is it poaching if you give the game warden $10 million and a draft pick?

Olney basically says the same..if you're Tampa, put a contract in front of Maddon..if he waffles and says " ehhh, i dunno ", start looking to trade him. man's got a house in Long Beach..WE WANT MADDON. and maybe even more importantly..WE WANT MATTINGLY OUT. Lol

but maybe the downside to coming over and bringing Maddon in immediately is that Friedman would show his hand a little bit in terms of what he's gonna do with the roster. if Mattingly is your " manage the egos guy " and you dump him, what might that be saying about his plan for the big egos on the roster? maybe he deals with the roster 1st and foremost? but Tampa holds the cards i guess and it's all about when they decide to sit down with Maddon and negotiate a new deal because if Maddon's availability goes public, i guess you have to jump.

I'm praying that Friedman is not the second coming of Paul D. Podesta.
