That is the only time it has ever happened.

That's where my BBQ analogy comes in. A one-size fits all style DOES NOT WORK. You manage per the way the team is playing, and they are playing like they don't care.

Sometimes you got to kick butt and MANAGE a game.

And if you think that not being able to beat good teams don't matter, welcome to another 20+ years of sucking.

Who else is he going to start? He doesn't choose the roster.

He doesn't have to keep him in the game after giving up 2 runs in the 1st, then after showing weakness in the 6th, walking the 2nd batter, sending the pitching coach to the mound and then not pulling him. Gives up the 2 run homer . Manage the game then if you don't have the resources. What does Bochey have really anyone beyond Bum this year? Why is he getting more out of less....consistently.

that's trash. If they can't handle it they wouldn't be at this level anyways.

also yet again how did that help us last year?

If he pulled Frias in the first after giving up 2 runs He should be fired... But sticking with his starter and not blowing up the bully is managing 101.. Smh at your logic here bud.. frias went on to pitch a decent game until he got hit on an 0-2 count for a hr. Sure he gave up a hit to the pitcher before that but really he was pitching well. Shit happened in a hurry.

But seriously you never pull your starter in the 1st inning for giving up a 2 run double.

no, what's trash is your arrogance and disregard for anyone who feels differently than you
and implying that psychology doesn't factor in at this [or any] level of competition is both lame and ignorant

    We're 2-9 against the Giants
Awful, of course. Idk why we cant beat these fuckers
A .500 record against these fags puts us at 42-27
But reality is we're 2-9 about to be 2-10 against this team

We're letting this shitty ass team beat us

As a team we have the most WAR in the league. (2nd hitting, 4th pitching, 1st overall)

Rollins needs to see less PT tbh. Dude sucks in the field sucks wit the bat.

Mattingly needs to learn how to be a better tactical manager--managing bullpen properly, platoons, lineup etc. would I fire him? Probably not. Idk who would be better. And ideally you want someone who has experience managing and has shown they can help the team instead of doing dumb shot.

Just trade for hamels already and promote seager. Promote Olivera too if need be but Turner has been exceptional at third.

    Joc
    Puig
    Turner
    Gonzalez
    Kendrick
    Grandal
    Ethier
    Seager
    P

    Kershaw
    Greinke
    Hamels
    Bolsinger
    Anderson

    Already looks miles better tbh

But.... beating good teams does matter. After all, teams that qualify for the playoffs are -- on balance -- good teams. If we can't consistently beat them during the regular season, then it's unlikely we'll beat them in the playoffs (if we even reach the playoffs).

The biggest issue with this team is that we don't have anyone who can create plays, like a Dee Gordon. We can mash like no other, but small ball type of characteristics are gone. Hell, even Joc, who stole 30 last year, isn't running.

Add in a few dimensions of speed and we will be fine.

    this
but it won't matter, because this team as currently constructed is not a world series contender
olivera, seager and a trade for a starter might add a couple regular season w's
but ultimately you can only go so far with an inept field general calling the shots

btw, the last time we beat a team in the postseason that had owned during the regular season... yeah, a guy named reagan was president

and then he starts tonight vs a righty
while the more productive [against lincecum] ethier sits
maybe a little front office pressure...

Mattingly says Guerrero isn’t in his Doghouse
by Matthew Moreno | Dodgers Nation — 4 hours ago
    [IMG]
Between Alex Guerrero swinging a hot bat that led to a larger role and Justin Turner picking up where he left off in 2014, the Los Angeles Dodgers very quickly found themselves with a logjam at third base this season.

While it in part led to Juan Uribe being packaged to the Atlanta Braves as he fell to third on the depth chart at the hot corner in Los Angeles, the trade hasn’t exactly coincided with more playing time for Guerrero at the infield position.

Since the Uribe trade on May 27, Guerrero has started just nine of 18 games played; none of the nine starts have at come third base. Turner has instead received the bulk of them, with Alberto Callspo spelling him for an occasional day of rest.

When asked if the decreased playing time is a result of Guerrero being in Dodgers manager Don Mattingly’s ‘doghouse,’ he denied that to be the case. “No, not at all,” Mattingly said recently. “He’s doing a tremendous job for us off the bench. We like what he’s been able to do.”

The fifth-year manager pointed to the Dodgers’ focus on sending out a strong defensive team as further reason Guerrero is primarily being used as a pinch-hitter. “We want to make sure we play the best possible defense we can possibly play,” he said. “But Alex is going to be a part of our club.”

Guerrero was seen getting additional work at third base in left field over the weekend, and pinch-hit in each of the first two games with the San Francisco Giants thus far. He’s 0-for-2 with one strikeout in the at-bats.

In 29 games as a starter heading into play Sunday, Guerrero is batting .267/.296/.525 with six home runs and 16 RBIs. That’s compared to .350/.381/.850 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 21 games as a pinch-hitter.

With six starts in the month of June, Guerrero’s role as a pinch-hitter may be further cemented by Hector Olivera’s presumed arrival and Carl Crawford’s eventual return from the disabled list. There’s also of course the possibility Guerrero suffers the same fate as Uribe, who Mattingly also once said has a role with the club, in the Dodgers’ effort to address their pitching need.

During his at bat, Schulman made mention that righties were hitting Lincecum better than the lefties were.
So it looks like Mattingly knew that and started Guerrero, in defiance of the lefty-righty mantra. So STFD.
