used to like rem back in the early days
south central rain, can’t get there from here, etc
still had some good stuff thereafter, but i hated all their pop shit like stand
their outspoken leftist political stance sealed their fate with me

I am one of maybe four people that loved REM for one album - Fables of the Reconstruction ... I noticed that on the album spine it was called Reconstruction of the Fables. DOCUMENT was solid too.

My reason for being disappointed in their live show was weird: they sounded 100% EXACTLY the same as their studio versions of every single song. For whatever reason, I want a distinct live experience - for live covers of their own songs, I can stay home and listen to the records and save a shit-ton of time & money ... But that's me.

yeah they did my old school and a bunch of EWF stuff (one of the guys was there along w a Tower of Power guy) Superstar by the Carpenters and a ton of Chicago
I'm a man by SDG sounded great until the drum solo literally emptied half the place including us
idk if you've been to that Canyon club place off of Hobbs but its a converted movie theatre as far as i can tell and holds 1600 sold out
kind of weird to have a couple of quinceaneras going on either side of the venue but it was fine
should have been prepared for the older crowd that doesn't get out much but had no idea what it would be like
enough creepers that the gf was clinging to me until the moment i got to the bathroom door lol
they had a 15 minute intermission and other than that played 3 hours until we left
horn section was outstanding and very active, actually the entire band was and all four vocalists spent a lot of time engaging the crowd
guy that sold us the tickets was a total dick/creeper and as soon as we sat down Lala wanted to switch seats away from him
he said he was a "lifer" and had seen them 8 times!
there were supposed to be wrist bands to meet and greet the band but he wasn't going to part w the two that should have gone w our seats
i even said " who do you think they want to meet, you or her? " but he acted like he had gold in his pocket or some shit
oh and we ate tacos at some place called El Dorado i think and they were excellent...ultra loud kareoke not so much...
can't believe they can do that show b2b nights let alone 4 nights in a row
    oh yeah and some Rufus!

I think I'm done with live shows. I want to see some concerts but these mega crowds & today's dynamic have me unwilling. People are intolerable. I'll cut a throat before I let some perv encroach on me or mine. My oldest daughter wants to see Taylor Swift ... One, I don't have a grand to piss away for the ticket & two, if someone gets buggy on me, I'm going to jail for what I'll do.

    I guess I'm an agoraphobe.

didn't someone just die at a TS concert?
yeah there's not much you can do about peoples eyes ime and that just comes w the territory if you hang out w attractive women whether or not they happen to be daughters
learned a long time ago not to pay attention and act like i've been there before especially if it happens all the time
bet there's lots of small venue places in KY to see the B list bands and new guys making the bar circuit
thats usually how i like to enjoy live music these days and will go seeing bigger acts at HB, SBbowl, Greek etc. but no way i'm doing Staples or Forum type shows
especially here theres that entitled drunken asshat factor that makes it completely not worth the effort but man i love live music

    but still pretty impressive

    Just because.

Saw them in my only trip to the Fillmore West. It was their first American tour. Savoy Brown was top bill.

My Big Brother turned 66 yesterday. I called him and he was hauling Tyson chickens from Arkansas to California.

We talked about Cal Jam 2 in 1978. He went. We decided that Savoy Brown, Mahogany Rush, and Rubicon are the three most forgotten bands of the 70s.

I wish I'd been born just a few years earlier.

be bop was the most forgotten sorry
Shrine auditorium in early 78 and their sound had gotten so big
unfortunately Bill also decided he didn't want to become institutionalized and shut down the band :(

if you want to get into Bebopdeluxe just put Live! In the air age on your spotify
ever wonder if the five or so of us that bother to post here are repeating ourselves year after year?

Gotcha. My bro doesn't remember much that happened between 1976 -1988. He smoked enough grass and drank so much Lowenbräu dark that he only has a handful of firm recollections. When pressed, Rubicon was for that concert sort of the Missing Persons of that time. KMET played the hell out of Rubicon so he loved whatever he heard ...

Sadly ... I still like some of that 80s shit to this day (sneaks into closet and puts on The Motels All4One album)

Martha Davis had a great voice, maybe just not the best writers?
I was listening to kmet and never heard Rubicon and don't see any music other than some Latino band...
man, smoking weed and enjoying a cold Lowenbräu was high brow stuff back then
saw an old beer light at a flea market and tried to explain it to the gf but just ended up talking to myself again lol

Rubicon was out of the Bay area. Sort of a white version of Sly Stone meets Tower of Power.
