The Japanese & the Indonesians have had shit luck that way (volcanoes & tsunamis) ... how about 1815, the "Year without a Summer"? 71K killed in Indonesia, 10K in less than half an hour.

Fucked. Rather die in bed than screaming.

was watching soul train on Saturdays and remember seeing this performance
there was nothing like his funky ass for that few years
hated the recent special blamed racism for his decline when it was drugs and insanity
everyone loved Sly and if they didn't they couldn't be my friend

missed this with the site down
    but RIP brian wilson
one of the most amazing talents in music history

    @RobSchneider
The musical genius Brian Wilson was the closest America ever got to competing with the extraordinary brilliance of the Beatles. His passing is a reminder of when Rock n Roll became an expression of exuberance, and experimentation, combining guitar with orchestral instruments to create a truly unique and beautiful sound that is timeless and raised the art form to something closer to Mozart or Bach. That I got to actually meet Brian Wilson is something that I still find humbling and truly awe inspiring. As long as there are teenagers, sunshine the beach, loneliness, first loves and surfer girls, Brian Wilson’s music will live on forever…

Yep. Tough, suffering existence fraught with depressive & suicidal thoughts. Overcame it all. God bless him. 82 was a good run.

Ironic that Dennis Wilson was the only Beachboy who surfed.

Of course he also hung out with Charlie and his girls.

i knew his adopted son scotty back in the late 70’s/early 80’s
    i didn’t like him
he was a thief and a hoodlum
i was too young and ignorant to understand why he was troubled
after dennis passed i never saw him again
    shame

Soft spot in my heart for Fleetwood Mac ... but especially for Buckingham. Guy is an underrated guitarist.

I also like this song, even though Stevie Nicks usually annoys the shit outta me ...

    lindsey banged stevie nicks
wrote about how selfish and self-centered she was
and then had mick fleetwood make her sing it with him
two versions; 1997 by which time a lot of the animosity had subsided, but in the 1977 version you can feel the tension
moral of the story… do not mess with lindsey buckingham
