Pretty sad how Joc isn't even "notable" anymore. What a collapse

Joc's line this year is crazily close to what he was projected to do. I think his projected line was something like .222 avg/.350 obp with 22HRs and good defense and that's about where he is. He's at .217/.355 with 25 bombs. Right now in September he's at .265/.365/.422. A near .800 OPS. He's fine. If he does the latter going forward it's a win.

    That's what 100 K's will get you...

He's earned his spot and he knows why.

He also has the highest exit speed among HR's the last I looked.

He'll be fine but gotta cap those K's

his exit speed total for any contact has dropped dramatically since june... His eye is an advantage over most kids his age...He should use to his advantage and try shortening his swing..And make better contact...

Yeah his hell bent for leather swing at max gusto 100% of the time is not a sustainable recipe for success.

You might think some coach would have explained that by now

He's still having a good all around season. He's a hard worker with a good head on his shoulders. The team tinkered with his mechanics during the season which is a recipe for failure. I'm liking the adjustments I've been seeing thus far from him. He's not going to be
That hell bent max gusto swing is because a coach told him to do it. He was a middling prospect until one of the clubs MiLB coaches told him to unload and that is when he took off and became one of the top prospects in the game. He is a strong, talented kid and the coaching staff is already tinkering with his swing(which is where that dreadful spell came from). The last 2-3 months won't be any sort of barometer on his future as most of us know, retooling your swing on the fly is no easy task. I'm hoping he can find a happy medium with his new swing and I'm confident that he'll come into next Spring Training ready to be one of the key pieces in our order. Listening to the Rockies telecast this week and hearing that piece of shit from the Phillies a little while ago, pissed me off. They all said he has done nothing to change his approach, which is completely false. DodgersDigest hit on it and you can even see it day to day, he's trying to make more contact (which is why his exit velocity is going down). Once he is comfortable in his stance and approach, he'll start squaring balls up again.

I disagree respectfully of course . his exo velo has gone down because he has for the most part since june making week contact and not squaring up the ball.If he was shortening his swing he would make more solid contact while maintaining a minimal decrease in exit velo. Not saying he isnt making adjustments . Im just saying hes making the wrong ones.He seems content with battling for a walk rather than using bat.Seems to be protecting the plate like a power hitter fouling off pitches but not squaring up the cookies.. His pull% is way down. Hes going oppo field more often then not in the second half..Up from 18% to 29.5%.But his hard hit % in the first half from an inflated first 3 months was at 41.5% 2nd half at 30.5%.Whats worse his soft hit % went up from 1st half to 2nd.. 14.9% to 28. 4%. Those are alarming . Glad hes young enough to have time to mature into an approach that works for him..

I am not trying to be overly critical, but his attempts for corrections, IMO, have been temporary at best. You write like his problems are over and done with...if they are, then I am missing it. He seems to being going in the right direction for a game or two, then snap right back into K country for a week or so...
I think you ( the team/coaches) almost have to "tinker" if you will, when he is doing what he is. Blatantly.
You seem to have more info about him than most, so the coach that told him to swing like a madman is maybe the villain, as you suggest.
But if he does have a good head on his shoulders, as you wrote, then it's taking the light bulb a bit long to go on over it.
Patience I guess...and only time, will tell.

Holding my breath that this kid will be as good as advertised. So far so good, but it's still too early to tell. Puig and Joc both started off well and now they both suck.

Guerrero will have a better career than both of them combined.
