he SHOULD be but... Actually in most every case he is but in our case its that DBB acts like a rookie manager even after 3-4 years
If you divided baseball management into domains let's say you came up with ten. DBB may be a master of ten and lacking a bit in two. Thus you pair him with someone who has strengths in those two. That someone while having strength in those two might be weak in four other ones. The trick is to assemble a TEAM with strength in all ten domains. Steve Jobs didn't get A's in all domains at Apple. However where he got the A plus, Apple is having trouble replacing. He and Tim a Cook made a great TEAM and Apple flourished on all cylinders.
We do have Seattle now within reach. Eventually we will have San Fran within reach and that problem will be eliminated
What that Wallach is a valuable member of the Dodger coaching staff and as a candidate for several managerial positions is being given more responsibility accordingly? The message might have been if we selected someone outside of the organization. That could have been a career killing message about Wallach to the rest of the league.
I was thinking more as a message to DBB that TWW is right there waiting for him to fuck up..... Even if they give DBB an extension they'd fire him. Remember, it's Magic the coach killer behind the scenes....
this an existing contract has never stopped an organization from firing a manager too bad manager contracts aren't (a bit) more like players would be funny to see a manager sent down or dfa'd
Stan Kasten had Bobby Cox for a long time and I suspect by going down the multi year contract path he is seeing that possibility with DBB who does bring stability to the dugout and organization. He seems like he will be a magnet/draw for talented players along with Guggie salary offers.
What has Dum Dum done to deserve a multip year contract? Lasorda and Alston worked on one year deals for decades and just did their job! Fuck Donnie Dum Dum. Who does he think he is?
