    So long as the chinless one doesn't throw 100 pitches by the 4th inning, I feel good that he'll shut down the Reds well enough.

    But I just watched 4 innings of the Cle/Det game ... feckin Skubal K'ed 14 and made Cleveland look like little leaguers. Guy is a beast.

    Banda was nails in the postseason a year ago and very good in the regular season this year. Disappointing.

    Echoing what everyone else is saying, it's a travesty that Scott is taking a spot that could otherwise go to Banda or Casparius. Or even Hurt. I look down the list of pitchers on the roster, and justification exists for each one of them making the series... except Scott. I just can't see how even dense-minded Dave could feel right about calling him into a game, short of being ahead by at least a touchdown. And if that were all he's going to be used for, it could easily have been Banda or Casparius.

    I'm predicting it now. There will be a high-leverage situation. Dave will go to Scott. The underlying justification will be his contract and his 2024 success. Scott will shit the bed. Everyone will say, what else did you expect to happen? Roberts will shrug it off as it wasn't his fault, that it was what any manager would do. And he'll probably throw Tanner under the bus, oblivious to the fact that it could have been avoided.

    Maybe the opposite will happen. Maybe Scott finds some success and it sets his mind straight and he pitches well the remainder of the playoffs and becomes an All-Star closer next year and the one after that. But I know that's just wishful thinking. He's going to royally screw this team and there's nothing we can do about it.

    I'm rooting for the Cubs here against the Padres...y' know because of hatred...but really, thinking about it, we can't handle the Cubs for shit...or we didn't anyway.
    Maybe we're better off playing the Padres because we handled them.
    It's just so hard to want them to win.
    Most of all, we gotta get there first, so just do it.
