10 year, 140 million dollar contract extension for Will Smith according to Passan. Wow…that is a very nice deal for the Dodgers.
That sure is! I like that we won't have to worry about free agency with him. Isn't that the Braves MO, usually? And it wouldn't hinder a trade if the Dodgers decide they need to move on at some point. I hope he's part of the team for all ten years, but I'm also a little concerned with how he faded down the stretch last year. Hopefully just an anomaly. But we do have a couple names down in the farm who could make more noise in the near term - so it's good to have options with Smith. Ten years though... Dodgers sure are locking in the core of their lineup long term.
Kind of a slow day for me today, raining and no work due to Good Friday so I'm getting caught up on some bills and I have the Phillies/Braves MLB Gameday up. Interesting feature I just noticed for the first time. There's a graphic, I guess in Beta testing, that displays a representation of all the players on the field. Shows their positioning and movements, as well as movement of the ball, including warmup pitches and grounders to the infielders between innings. I googled it and I guess MLB has been testing this on a selective basis for the past couple of seasons. Not suggesting that it beats watching live action, but it's a decent alternative to have going on the side while doing computer work.
I was just following the end of the DBacks/Yankees game online. A couple thoughts: 1. Yankees scored two in the top of the 11th and Caleb Ferguson was brought in for the save. He almost blew it, but... 2. Yankees intentionally walked the batter with runners at first and second to load the bases - at first I was wondering what the hell they were doing - but then I realized that this forced ARI to have their pitcher hit. Easy K for Caleb. It was only the 11th, not like the 15th inning. Getting caught with an empty bench - this is something Davey would do. 3. I cannot believe we lost to the fricken' Diamondbacks last postseason. That's going to haunt me all year.
Have no fear. Even if this fades into the deep corners of your memory eventually , as long as Davey is the pilot, he will always provide another crushing disappointment for you. Think the bridge in Baltimore...
Now Soto wants a Shohei equivalent contract.... without the incentives. So ... who'll be the first billion dollar man? Whoever it is ... he'll blow out his knee irreparably in game 1 of his first season.
Vargas has 3 HRs and 12 ribbies in his first 5 games at OKC. Man, if he could even duplicate some of that at the next level...
Go ahead, blame the capitalist in me, but if I have the HR ball that a $700 million player hit for his new team, I'm exchanging it for more than some baseball gear. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ml...S&cvid=8b0f8d312e8d4fb181916829dbc29cd9&ei=19
boras and company are delusional. only thing Soto has going for himself is his age. the only way he should sniff even 500 million would be if he were putting up Barry Bonds like numbers, and he isn't. Shohei is making that much for 3 reasons, 1 He is one of the best hitters in the league 2 He can be one of the best pitchers in the league and 3 He is easily the most marketable player MLB has ever had. Soto's marketability isn't even in the same stratosphere.
eh. I don't know. If they want it back bad enough I'd ask for a photo and tickets. Memorabilia has never been all that valuable to me
Nor is it to me. But here's the thing... If he goes on to be a future HOF'er and especially with 500+ HRs, his first bomb as a Dodger will have significant value down the road. Let's call it $50k, conservatively. So either I keep it and cash in down the road, or I sell it for, say, $5k now. If Ohtani doesn't want to pay that, then to a collector online. Put it on eBay, let the Japanese businessmen outbid each other.
I doubt it is worth much of anything to anyone besides Shohei. maybe if it were his first career HR, but first HR with a team. that shouldn't be worth shit
well barely bonds first HR ball w SF sold for $517,ooo actually that's wrong, that was the 73rd it came up when i asked the question have to think Shohei's would bring a minimum of 25k right now but who knows?
