Why would LA do that unless the Spurs help the Lakers out with Leonard big time (ie, no BI, no Kuzma, no Zo, maybe picks and Zubac). That would be an odd move to say the least. Spurs have over $90M in committed salary for 2018-2019 covering only 10 players on the roster. The cap is around $100M for the coming season. They need to spread that $10M around several players. They can't offer more than half of that cap space to just one player. Anything can happen, but I don't see the Spurs as a part of that.
I thought he did, but maybe not. Thing is we need the cap space. Not sure Lakers are in on KCP. He got a $15M one year deal from us, but for a reason....this years cap space.
What you see on the Spurs now, if they move Kawhi, they will look very different. They will be at the very least in a semi-rebuild. Would look to dump Pau and perhaps even Aldridge
In fact, the Spurs are already trying to dump a bad contract, likely Pau, on LAL and other parties that are interested in Kawhi
Ugh....we already have a bad contract in Deng. Why not swap bad contract for bad contract Spurs get Randle and Zubac, and we get Leonard and call it a day......LOL.
I don't personally but that seems to be the fall back to PG13 (overrated hack). I have to trust Magic and Pelinka that they have 100 scenarios in their minds.
I find it odd that PG didn't talk to anyone and clearly had his mind made up beforehand. Guess he likes playing beta to Russ's alpha and doesn't care about winning. Or maybe he likes being a big fish in a small pond where the community adores him. No way that team wins anything unless they can somehow flip Melo into something useful.
Wasn't any one thing that made George stay in OKC, was a number of things. And yeah, he also didn't take a meeting with Philly, who was interested and also in a better position than OKC. The immediate report after LAL refused to trade Ingram or the #2 overall pick to Indy was that George was angry about it, that LAL would just assume he'd take a paycut to come home after he laid it out for them and took a lot of heat from Indy fans. Then obviously, he enjoys Russ for whatever reason. But here's one that hasn't been laid out, that I've heard through a couple compadres, but George is actually very good friends with Kyrie and he saw how LeBron and Kyrie were seemingly always bickering in games and shit like that. He didn't like how that whole LeBron/Kyrie thing went down. And then LAL takes aim at Kawhi early and their 1st call at 12:01 goes to the best player in the league. Both no brainers, but George had to know that was coming, the backburner guy feel, which he is realistically because he's not a great player. He's a very good one. So it's not to say that LAL had no interest in him, of course they did, he just wasn't at the top of their pecking order. The leaked pitch was probably to show him a little love because they knew that they were going to focus on better players first and foremost. If Magic really coveted Paul George as much as everybody assumed, he trades Ingram or that #2 pick to Indy. All of the talk was about George because of the trade talks, the Jimmy Kimmel stuff and George's love for LA, so the confusion is understandable. But Magic is no fool. He's more than fine trying for the best player in the game, the best defensive player in the game, and the best big in the game. Priorities are in order.
The Kawhi thing makes sense. PG got his feelings hurt because all the attention was on Kawhi to the Lakers. Ego is more important than results for some of these guys.
Nope, I think there is no failing here. Even if we come out without any big names this offseason. Sign guys to bloated 1 year deals like they did with KCP last year and wait for 2019. These kids are good enough to entertain and make a push in the playoffs. It would be a team effort. Not getting LeBron might be a blessing in disguise if we can add Kawhi cleanly next year. PG: Lonzo, Hart SG: Ingram, Hart SF: Kawhi, Kuzma PF: Randle, Kuzma C : Cousins, Randle
As we have seen time and time again, there is no certainty that KL will come here. Especially as we have seen he is sensitive and emotional. PG was a lock as well and well..... We strike out again and it's a fail. I guess the losing is so bad in this organization that watching young guys grow is more fun than actually competing for chips. we are not nor will be the warriors. A big signing must be made and made this year. or you can be happy to watch these young guys grow and fight for the 8th seed this year, maybe the 6th seed the year after, the 4 or 5 the year after that and then maybe 2 or 3 after that only to get steamrolled by the warriors throughout.
I do agree with Borat that this year was really the year to hit the free agent jackpot. Much less competition as very few teams have cap space this year. Next year will be harder as more teams will have cap space.
8 and 9 were the wolves and nuggets. will we be better than them this year? warriors rockets Portland okc spurs pelicans jazz all the above are certainly better than the lakers. so nuggets and wolves. wolves slipped to 8th lastnbyear because of the butler injury. Pretty sad to say were fighting with those 2 for the 8th seed if we dont sign anybody. This is how far this organization has fallen. expectations are 0 at this point. lol lebron or bust
