Yeah, but if we want Danny Green he should probably get the MLE because he earned it. If Green has not signed a big payday yet its because he is probably looking to play with Kawhi again and keep that good times rolling. Boogie 'deserves' the MLE but that's not how it works. He has to go back and earn it. Really he should be thinkinking like a Mychal Thompson to Anthony Davis' Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Skip BaylessVerified account@RealSkipBayless If No. 2 strings along the Clippers until the end of the week, then chooses the Lakers, leaving the Clippers the scraps left on the free-agent market, No. 2's name will be mud among TWO fandoms - the Spurs' and the Clippers'. Sounds like the perfect Laker to me.
Man, I have been zoned in to twitter non-stop the past couple of days which is making my already stressful schedule, much much worse! If Kawhi spurns the Lakers, they could be in a bit of trouble.
At 1st glance it looks like he's trying to rally for some hate/pressure, but he knows that Kawhi isn't moved by trolling, especially the corny shit. Kawhi is ignoring that foolishness, living his best life. Bayless just basically being a clown again
Bum. But a bum with solid character. Bench and locker room should be tougher this season with him around + Lionel Hollins and Kidd
Enough people either believe in his BS and/or find it entertaining. That and finding targets that are relevant. He knows how to ride the wave ( and dick), I'll give him that
I feel like these "super teams" always have their hiccups the first year. A team with LeBron and Davis should absolutely be solid, but outside of Kuzma the rest of the roster could be really rough thanks to the team having to wait on Kawhi. It is also not like LeBron or Davis are going to play 82 games and this roster is praying for health. If either goes down for a stretch, that could put the Lakers in a tough spot with the type of depth they would have filled in on the roster. I still think they are a playoff team, but they would be leaning pretty heavily on LeBron and Davis which would wear them down.
The part where the team that's dominated the last 5 seasons being defunct now is very important. The west is wide open. Whenever you see a team that comes together and wins the title in it's 1st year together, that team usually has multiple hall of famers and a lot of experience within the roster + circumstances around the league are shifting. It doesn't happen often, but the Lakers right now, have things breaking their way..have had things breaking their way all off-season in the face of bad press. There's still a pool of guys that are waiting to be bought out, plus free agents like Danny Green and Marcus Morris that are hovering around the Lakers' situation, waiting for Kawhi to make his decision. Once you have LeBron and AD in place, that's what happens. Guys want in. A lot of the players that they would've targeted if Kawhi weren't available, many of those guys got overpaid anyway. Iguodala is probably a Laker by the end of the week. It'll come together.
Cousins may not even get a MLE offer? What a fall. LAL probably had no interest in him before AD landed, but I imagine AD wouldn't mind teaming up with him again. But only at the right price. Room exception at best. If Kawhi doesn't sign grab Danny Green at a favorable number for him, grab Cousins and Marcus Morris. Cousins AD/Morris/Dudley LeBron/Kuz Green/Korver/Daniels Caruso/Iguodala Enough experience there. Find a couple young bodies to help them get to the playoffs healthy and I'd like their chances in an open west. Back end prime/HOF LeBron and early prime/HOF AD gets them in the game. But obviously, we prefer that Kawhi make the proper decision and join the Lakers.
Bayless, the endless Spurs apologist. Maybe if his idol Pop wasn't acting like such a prima donna, Bayless wouldn't have to resort to being so bitter.
AD and Cousins back together again does not make sense. Danny Green is waiting on KL's decision. He is the guy we should target.
I really wish Doc Rivers hadn't blown the recruiting pitch to Duncan years ago. Would've relished the chance to see what Popovich could do with Duncan in Orlando instead of San Antonio. Boston is in store for some shit too. Lakers have been chasing them down in title count for 30 years now and the culmination is right around the corner. About to blow right past them
