and like other forms of corruption, it's produces profits mostly illicit and immoral ncaa will protect their sacred cow/demigods until they can't... then they'll turn on them and jump on the pro-public bandwagon
Both starting OTs were sitting it out. Whitworth (old) and Havenstein (gimpy ankle). Don't think McVay wanted Goff out there without his best protectors.
Have to agree with fsu here. I mean, Chucky pulled the Rams' offensive coordinator onto his staff [no homo], so the RAIDERS probably have a solid idea of what Goff can do. McVay is more than likely just protecting him. Goff actually may be getting rid of the football in a hurry in the opener, or maybe they'll lean on Gurley? The RAIDER pass rush is passing the sniff test currently and doing it without Mack's presence. That's one of the few things one can take away from preseason games..how your team's pass rush looks, given that no opposing HC is sending their QB options out there without having protections in order. Most everything else means little. RAIDERS have 11 sacks as a team so far, tied for 4th, and quite a bit of hurries and QB hits as well. Chucky grabbed a couple 1st round talents later in the draft and they're impressing scouts and analysts early on. One of them was a high risk for just being an immature jackass @ LSU, slid in the draft because of that and inconsistent play and commitment..the next Aldon Smith if he isn't careful. The other was the #1 defensive tackle in the nation @ Michigan and fell in the draft due to an issue with his heart. Chucky snatched the Packers' D-line coach away from them and he has them playing well. They may be the real surprise when the season starts..that is, if Key doesn't get suspended and Hurst doesn't die between now and then
Herm Edwards is the HC at Arizona State now? You cannot PLAY TO WIN THE GAME at Arizona State. What gives? They must have shown him the money.
Matt Leinart an analyst on this FOX NCAA preper..his shitty little beard is absolutely eternal Beard has been highly efficient for a long damn time Substitute beard efficiency for QB efficiency and he would've been hell to deal with on the field
After all that tough talk, Mychal Kendricks cut by the Browns..because of insider trading. What? Lol Federal prosecutors on his ass. Amazing.
I watched that Packers Raiders game and what a comedy of errors.. it didn't look like either team 'wanted' to win Now how many preseason games are warranted?
87M guaranteed for Donald - richest deal ever for a defensive player, doubled up on Gurley. Was the perfect time for a hold out with the Rams' Super Bowl aspirations and need to make their mark in the LA market. Now what happens to Mack? Little bit of a different situation for him..Chucky with maybe the greatest level of job security in the league and no real pressure to win big before leaving for Vegas, and a new defensive coordinator and scheme. Mack maybe should've gone the OBJ route..showed up and played nice. Then again, sounds like they're now talking 5yrs and roughly 90M in guarantees.
Looks like the Bears are getting Mack Trade details forthcoming..2 first rd picks so far it looks like, supposedly more draft comp as well
Yeah, that's the last straw. Put up with plenty of BS by that god awful organization but this is it. I'm an NFL FA.
I can't blame Chucky for not wanting to be the 1st team to have two 20M+ per year players, especially with Coop coming up and likely wanting around 18M+ per year I would blame Chucky if the trade return/haul wasn't big time, and it looks to be pretty good so far Will surely miss Mack in the meantime though Carr must work out..RAIDERS can ditch Carr as well after this season for a small cap penalty, worked the contract that way
Charlie Campbell@DraftCampbell 36m36 minutes ago A top scout on the #Raiders haul for Khalil Mack, "That is how you build a team. For the money they would pay Mack they can sign 3, maybe 4 good free agents. Then two first-round talents coming in. Turning one good starter into 5-6 starters is a smart move for Oakland."
I can’t tell if Chucky is intentionally trying to destroy the Raiders or going the Belichick route of never pay anyone one player too much (besides QB) and maximize your assets so you can build a more complete team. It’s basically throwing the immediate future, but they can’t miss on the picks, but at the same time like Mack was really friggen good
Too many good coaches on his staff for it to be a case of intentionally destroying anything..could've hired anybody for that and the coaches want to do well and move on to other gigs eventually. You're on the right track as far as the Belichick route goes, but not just because Chucky doesn't want a handful of guys on his team making 20M+ ( which nobody in the league has, BTW)..also because he too doesn't have any patience for guys who want to hold out and not return his phone calls. He's the boss and had to let it be known. Mack and Cooper have the same agent, so it'll be interesting to see if Cooper holds out eventually as well. I'd imagine there's a solid deal on the table for Cooper right now, it's probably similar to the deals for Diggs/Cooks/Watkins. If Cooper holds out, he's probably out the door as well or he'll get franchised. RAIDERS could've forced Mack to come in and play for 14M this year, he would have shown up eventually, so it was more than just a money issue. A lot of fans are pissed, but I guess I'm in the group that can remove the fan hat. I'll surely miss him, but he didn't do himself any favors or he just got bad advice from his agent. Bears are still likely coming in 3rd place in the NFC North, maybe even last, so the draft picks the RAIDERS get should still be well positioned. But MIN, GB, and DET are probably still pissed that Mack lands in their division.
I've seen and heard the blame bounced between Davis (cash poor) and Gruden, with most of it landing on Gruden, who apparently wields a lot of power within the organization. Interesting to see how things shake out. Like what was said earlier in the thread, they can't blow these draft picks.
Mack definitely not getting much blame at all from RAIDER fans, but RAIDER fans aren't used to having great players in general, let alone ones that hold out, so many of them just don't know how relationships can be strained. But Mack is going to get his money anyway, so the hold out worked out for him at the end of the day. To the Belichick/Chucky comp, gotta love the hypocrisy from talking heads.." good teams keep their best players ", when we all know that the Patriots have traded some of their best players over the years. Mangini said the same the other day, that Belichick would've definitely traded Mack and everyone would've been like, " there's Bill doing Bill things again, he's great. " Chandler Jones is one of the elite pass rushers in the game and Belichick just sent him to the Cards like a couple years ago. Obviously, KC just sent all-pro Peters out the door and over to the Rams. Chucky just has to go out and back it up. 1st test..weed out the weak. See who'll go out there and compete at a high level this year without sulking about Mack being gone. Bruce Irvin had his weak moment this morning.. Bruce IrvinVerified account@BIrvin_WVU11 3h3 hours ago No fucking way Then he probably got word that Chucky wasn't above sending him out too, maybe to Buffalo or Cleveland and.... Bruce IrvinVerified account@BIrvin_WVU11 3h3 hours ago What a shock. Now move on and win.. time to beat the Rams!! 180 in a heartbeat
And now Chucky trades for AJ McCarron. Back up QB in place Still trying to figure out what else he got in the Mack trade, supposed to be more draft picks, potentially a player as well
