what a bs call in the college championship game throw a guy out for making a fucking tackle pussy game now
There is no way Chris Jones is going to be a Raider. He either re-signs or gets hit with the franchise tag. Then maybe a trade is possible from there, but certainly not to the Raiders.
This LSU team by some accounts in line to be one of the best single season College football team in history. Not my words.
Lol Don't blame you for being worried. Franchise tag or no franchise tag, 2 pass rushers making $15M to $20M+, on the same team, doesn't happen. Likely won't even happen for the 1st time in NFL history because Mahomes is due and will spike in '21, and Hill spikes to nearly $20M in '21, as well. The jig is going to be up pretty soon. Actually, it was up when they dumped the money on Clark and Hill. You can take solace in the fact that Spagnuolo doesn't value the DT position a ton and regularly builds solid defenses without them. So perhaps you won't have to be so worried when the rubber meets the road - and then Clowney and Armstead are probably switching teams, as well, so other options for the RAIDERS if Jones does end up escaping
Truth. Kellerman generally solid on boxing. And now, Manny is about to take on Spence or Crawford. Pretty amazing.
Saw that too. I know they aren't better than the early 2000's Hurrianes. They're loaded, but not to that level. They are better than the Canes at QB though
I am worried the Chiefs will be stupid and not give him the $$ he deserves, but I'm not worried for one second that he will be a Raider. Chiefs can pay Mahomes and Jones if they want to as they'll be rolling over 20 mil in cap space from this year plus will get more space from cutting guys like Sammy Watkins (would save 14 million by himself), but at the very least, Jones will get tagged.
It's really not about KC not giving him the money he deserves. It's a salary cap league designed to keep balance and what KC has built currently isn't sustainable. Like Watkins, for example..they don't save $14M by cutting him..no, they'll actually incur $7M in dead money if they cut him. Not ideal. There's a reason Jones hasn't been taken care of yet. There's a chance he's going to match Aaron Donald's $22M AAV
Whoa. Jim Trotter@JimTrotter_NFL Raiders coach Jon Gruden has fired respected defensive line coach Brenston Buckner and is expected to replace him with Rod Marinelli. Under Buckner, the Raiders improved from 13 sacks in 2018 to 32 this year, and from 30th against the run to 8th.
Marinelli is a big coaching name, so it wouldn't have anything to do with a thirst for the spotlight. Also, doesn't look like Buckner did anything to get fired and that he'll find work in a hurry. Marinelli was Gruden's D-line coach in Tampa, won the Super Bowl there with Gruden, so it just feels like one of those hires. It's not like Marinelli sucks or anything. He's actually pretty good and accomplished, well regarded. Just a shocking move. Buckner did a lot of good in short time
Vic Tafur@VicTafur #Raiders Josh Jacobs takes home Pro Football Writers Association’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award But Maxx Crosby left off the PFWA all-rookie team.
7 million is a sunk cost. His cap hit for next year is currently 21 mil, by cutting him, it drops to 7 mil, thus, that's 14 million dollars they won't be paying him and 14 million on the cap gained.
What's more than likely going to happen with Watkins is he'll have his deal restructured, so that none of that money is wasted. It's the final year of his contract and so he probably won't mind being spread out over a couple years. But that'll just happen in order for them operate at base and add other pieces in FA, so not really saved money for an elite buy. However, the issue with Jones isn't just lack of cap space. The make up of their payroll is the biggest issue. They're just very unlikely to move into the future with $40M Mahomes, $20M+ Clark, $20M+ Hill and $20M+ Jones. Again, Jones hasn't already been taken care of for a reason. Pretty much the most you can hope for is that he doesn't land with the RAIDERS
And that's huge. Because Carolina picks ahead of us in the draft and now they're probably taking safety/LB Isaiah Simmons from Clemson. Fuck.
