The other advantage to the Slingbox is you would get all the SportsnetLA programs, not just the games. Plus you'd get all of your brother's cable, so if you pay for cable right now you could drop it.
Damn Slingbox sounds really awesome. Might set one up at my dads place so i can get Sportsnetla and all the other channels i can't get here in Australia
thanks for all the feedback guys and sorry if that response came off harsh TB, i was just frustrated but not at you
There are blackouts and will be blackouts as long as you live in market. Do what Mousey does and use a VPN service, or if you download chrome, use hola, to get around the blackouts.
I have mlbtv premium - I think you have to have the premium service to use the apps on appletv, play station, etc (I think standard mlbtv limits you to a computer). Basically, once you have mlbtv premium you just have to plug your login and password into the app on appletv, or any other device you want to watch on. You will be blacked out. That's why you also need to sign up for a service like unblock-us.com. Once signed up there you will need to change the DNS settings on your appletv (it's super easy, instructions are on their site). Then you tell unblock-us what country you want your device to be "located" in, and mlbtv will work. As a bonus, if you use netflix on your appletv it will also think you are in whatever country you have set in unblock-us. Netflix programming is different in other countries, so you can get lots of movies and TV shows not available in the US.
I think mine is set to Canada right now because I recently watched The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is available on Canadian Netflix. But I like to switch it up. I've been all over the world.
Hell yeah I use unblock-us for netflix out here in Australia. They just got Netflix out here like a week ago but I've had it here since October
I'm sure you already have a way to look up what movies/TV shows are available in each region, but just in case - I like to use moreflicks.com to search for what I want to watch, then I know what region to set for unblock-us.
No I don't but that sounds awesome. I usually just check to see what's on Netflix and if I don't see anything I like I just change the region to Mexico or whatever. I'll have to check it out though. Thanks mate!
