Well we have a fundamental difference in opinion and I am not sure you are fully appreciating everything I am saying and the extent of the financial empire the Dodgers are now part of. That why I provided a couple of background links about the evolving nature of the Guggenheim business world which is centered largely on financial products. Like many similar business concerns they own multiple companies that are in the financial field or related. Making money is often a result of innovation and we are seeing something unique and interesting unfolding and we are now part of it as fans. If Cohen had gotten the team as a hedge fund owner it would have been interesting to see what he would have done. Can you imagine in a few year an IPO involving the Dodgers? The Man U one was of mixed results and Glazer leveraged the team when he bought them unlike Guggenheim with their cash transaction.

well, it is an interesting view, I'll give you that...

using your reasoning of why they bought the team as a give (not that I agree, but just for the fun of it), do you think it should be a given that they need to keep the team fully competitive year after year to keep the revenue stream flowing?

one area where they could optimize the revenue is using Kasten's style of building the team's core from within and round up the team with free agent, which he already have said he will do...

Absolutely, Totally and Awesome for Dodger fans. Do you want to invest with a company that has a name associated with a winner or loser? Losing will hurt their business model.

So if Guggie sells naming rights to himself. And just like Citibank in NY every event held there will give his product name recognition and publicy without him paying a cent for it. Guggenheim investment bank or what ever they call it. They have the guy from Bear Stearns to help run it. He knows how to use other peoples money.

NO WAY they change the Dodger Stadium name... they could do some work around it, but the name will still be Dodger Stadium... maybe name the lot if they get to add an NFL stadium?

yeah I know Met fans felt the same way about Shea. Remember they did ask about naming rights. Let us keep winning and have a payroll just under the luxury tax and watch how flexible Dodger fans become about paying for it.

Shea is different cuz they moved from the park. That would be like changing Wrigley or Fenway name. If the Dodgers move to a new park sure they change it, but not while they are at the Ravine (brought to you by Magic Johnson's cinema).
